I am starting to dig into remote starters and alarms for the truck.

Is anyone familiar with the following brands?

Vampire....Pros \ cons

Clifford....Pros \ cons

Compustar....pros \ cons

pyle....pros \cons

huatai....pros \ cons

I know nothing about alarms or remote starters. I just know that I need to know more http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif.

These are not as easy to choose from as a stereo and I am getting outrageous prices from installers. Half the time they throw alot of jargon around and then give me a take it or leave it price.

Check out www.astroflex.com (http://www.astroflex.com) Crappy web site, awesome product. The best in my opinion. Post your email address and I will send you all you need to know about installing one and more.

I just installed some of the newest Compustars, very nice...too bad they don't keep their site up to date. DEI brands and Compustar have worked great for me, Max Power prefers Astro Flex. I'm pretty sure Compustar is the only one with upgradeability.

I'm sure Max will whole heartedly agree that the single most important factor is the installer. Along with that the install materials. Ask if they solder their connections...If you get no or a puzzled look, run! Insulation is important as well, heat shrink if possible, 3M Super 33(not the cheap stuff) over all other connections.

I hope this helps if you have specific ??s drop me a line...
