I am about to purchase a set of 18" Weld Slingblade 8 w/ BFG 285/65/18E A/T. I am told the Welds I am looking to purchase have 10mm offset, 5.14 inch backspacing. Will I run into a rubbing problem? I have my torsion bars already cranked.

I have already done a ton of searches for a similiar setup and can't find one.

Thanks!

the tires should fit, there are about the same size as mine. mine rub on the plastic part of the bumper with the wheel turned just right. cant help with the backspacing.

i figured the tire size would be ok....i guess i'm more concerned w/ the backspacing and offset of the wheels

thanks for the input...

Are you sure those are 8 inch wide wheels? My calculations tell me that wheels with +10mm offset and 5.14" backspace would be 8.5" wide.

The 16 x 6.5 OEM wheels have +28mm offset. So a +10mm offset will move the centerline of the wheel 18mm out (0.71")

That package will make the new tires stick out 38 mm (1.5'') farther than the OEM tires/wheels. Check your fender clearances.

You can play around at this website and see how your new tires and wheels will compare to the OEM package. http://www.rims-n-tires.com/rt_specs.jsp

Put the OEM information in the left and the new info on the right hand side.

OEM
Tires: LT245/75R-16
Wheels: 16" x 6.5" with +28mm offset (ET)

You're right... the wheels are 18 x 8.5. The "8" in the original post is referring to the name of the Weld wheel itself, "Slingblade 8". Sorry for the confusion. I guess I should have included that in the original post.

Anyone running a similar setup have their wheels / tires stick out of their wheel wells? I really don't want road grime thrown up the sides of my truck, and fender flares (bushwackers) aren't an option for me.

Thanks for any input...

I am running 325/60R18 on a 18x9.5 with 6" BS...should be similar to your setup. I would give it a go. Check my Garage for pics.

I run 18x9.5 American Racing Trax with 4.5" (-19 offset) of backspacing and BFG AT's 285-65-18. I have the cognito leveling kit cranked up 2.5" higher than stock. I have had to do the normal trimming (front air dam and inner fender liners). I do not have any pics of the tires sticking out right now, but here are a couple of the side. The tires stick out about 2.5" from the front fender. Your rims being 8" wide and with a 5.14 backspacing should help with rubbing. You should not have a problem. How high did you crank your T-bars?

bagofdimes, i'm not sure how high i cranked them because it's been about 2 years since i did it. I remember that it wasn't all the way, and there are a couple of threads showing on the adjusting bolts. the truck is level though, and after adding 4 washers to the stock height bilsteins (and an alignment), the truck rides great.

do you get much road grime thrown up the sides of your truck w/ your tires sticking out that far? i would like to try and keep the tires/wheels from extending outside the wheel well. think the smaller width of 8 1/2" w/ the 5.14 backspacing is enough to keep it inside?

My last truck is running eagle 178's 18X9 with a +2mm offset and 5 BSM with 285 BFG's. Just a little trimming of the front spoiler and the torsions were turned up a bit. It works fine.

great! thanks for the pics, they really helped. i think w/ the 8.5" width and the 5.14 backspacing we should be just right.

I am looking to run the Dune Grapplers LT285/65R18 E with a set of American Racing Mace/Mace 8 18 x 8.5. The wheel has a +15mm offset and 5 3/8 backspacing.
I am putting a ORU or similar leveling kit on (just the keys, cranked bars and bilstiens)

I am under the impression that this will work with no rubbing so long as I do some trimming.

Have I been mis informed or is this true?

Also, justhow much trimming is need. Not wanting my wheel well to hacked up.
