<DIV>Finally got my truck lifted. Had a few issues to work out, like the rear FOX shocks being to short, wrong size tires were shipped and one wheel does not match the other 3.</DIV>
<DIV>I got through all the issues and love it!</DIV>

Great looking truck Mike,http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif

I have a friend who runs the Pro Comp M/T's, and they seem to wear pretty well, so those A/T's should get you 35-40k no problem. Love the rims and the shock set up. The front is a little too low for my taste, though. I like the "level or little higher in the front" look myself.

Love the emblem and the vent covers in front too, very sharp.

Very nice! Boy, I have some questions ...

What lift and how tall? 6" ?

What size tires and offset of your wheels?

Carriage Works "Liquid" grill ?

Looks very nice!

Thanks guys!

It's a CST 6-8" lift.
Tires are 35" and the grill is from Awesome Products. I can post the contact info tomorrow.

The front is higher just the pic's does not look it.

I want it closer to level.

Looks good Mike...mild yet aggresive stance. 35s? What is the power like after the larger meats?

tophog
08-13-2004, 02:25 AM
After my lift and running 35's I noticed a big power hit due to the tires ...mpg went from 20 to 16 ... now running 295's and getting 18 which I'm happy with. Power? Juice makes up for some ...it's the gearing changie I notice most.

Does Awesome Products have a website? I'd like to see some of there gear.. Good looking ride..Killer grill!!

The power loss is noticeable but is less than I had expected.
I have wanted a lifted truck for as long as I can remember so I can live with the down sides.

I will be getting TTS, exhaust, and tranny mods soon so it should help.

Added a light bar and modified the lights so that are much harder to "take".

Lights will be on after the rings are powdercoated black.

If you don't mind:

What is the ride like with the double shock setup?

Did the shock hoop come with the lift and if not what type did you use?

TIA

I got them all direct from the manufactures themselves.
Considering my luck with these types of projects I feel I was real lucky I was able to drive it home http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Mike where'd you source the grille emblem and the door emblems with the American flag on the bowties? I gotta have a set and had noticed that elsewhere on the forum but figured people had Photoshop'd it, but that looks like it's real. Is it? Where can I get a set?

Thanks!

Hey Mike, may I ask ball park figure for what you paid for the lift kit and install? I am thinking about buying a truck from North County GMC in Escondido and some of them have been lifted by their company TAG Motorsports. but they want like 7k EXTRA on the price of the truck for the ones they did lift. NO WAY am i paying that much for it. unless that is what they actually do cost.

Nice truck and again thanks for any info

Truck looks good, where did you get the lower inserts on the bumper?

Mike330R
08-20-2004, 03:00 PM
Kanf- I can't really give you what I paid as it would not reflect what a normal customer would pay. Mike was for a magazine so I got a pretty good deal.

The CST lift is in the 2200 range and install is a day of labor. No where near 7K!!!! the dealers always do that. The only good thing is it's covered from the dealer and TAG Motorsports (or should be)

I had mine done next door to TAG at off-road warehouse.
Call and ask for Ron (ext 107) and see what he wants to install.
I believe they stand behind their work but nake sure to ask.

can i ask what size the wheels are , also backspace , who makes them and what size tires are those ? i think i want the same thing , do you have a part number for everything you bought , lift , and id the shocks come with the lift ?

Mike330R
08-21-2004, 12:03 PM
The wheels are 17" and I think 4.25 back space. They are KMC's and this was the last set they had that were American made. They are now made in China and they are having problems with them coming apart.

Tires are Pro Comp AT's 35".
Shocks are FOX and they do not come with the lift. Lift is CST.

08-24-2004, 12:44 AM
who sells those wheels? and whats the brand again ? sizes ?

Mike330R
08-24-2004, 09:50 AM
Lift is in the 2200 range, front shocks are in teh 230 each range and rears are around 170.

Wheels are KMC 17"x9.5 (wide). KMC does not have this model (XD325) anymore and I'd advise staying away from them for a couple months. They are having manufacturing issues right now. That's about all I know about that.

Tires are 34.9x12.5x17

Mike330R
08-24-2004, 06:15 PM
Correction!

Front shocks w/ rezzies are 185 and rears w/o are 140.

I have not been to Sandmountain yet, but will some time. I usually go to Glamis. (south end on Thanksgiving if your interested)

Only way to adjust these is to have them revalved. I think they will do it free if it's way off. Mine seem a tad stiff on the road and perfect off-road.

The hoops are bolt on provided you use their upper control arm replacement.

Here's a couple pic's. Notice how the control arm drop down brackets mount to the frame.

What would be the best PSI to run these tires at for longest life?

bigblockquad
08-25-2004, 09:39 PM
Mike, my bike's got an 85 GS1150cc Suzuki motor in it. It's been pushed to 1230cc with Wiseco pistons and webcams. The turbo is a Garrett T25 with a slightly larger impeller for cooler air. Right now I only run between 7-9 lbs of boost on C16. A buddy of mine runs 11+ lbs of boost and has problems ripping the paddles of the tires. I couldn't afford that, hence lower boost.

I really like your bike. It looks immaculate. I'm assuming its a CT330 kit? They make nice stuff. I actually had an 88 TRX way back when. Sold it back in 95 to pick up a banshee. Although I like my banshee, its not half as nimble as the TRX was. Sometimes I wish I never would'a never parted with it.

I can't get over how much I like your truck and dual shock setup but I'm not concerned about the ride quality. My trucks a daily driver mostly on the freeway and around town and doubling up on the shocks can sometimes mean doubling up on the stiffness. Thats why I'm curious about the adjustability Does the company that installed them have a website of phone number so I can ask a couple more questions?

Again your bike and your truck look awesome.

Rich.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif

Mike330R
08-25-2004, 11:14 PM
Rich,

My motor is a CT 350 powervalve.

As for the truck the ride quality got much better. I did change the rear leafs to 1/2 ton srpings (adding air bags for towing) so that also helped alot. If you want a better ride I'd suggest different leafs especially if your driving mostly on the highway.

You can call Fox Racing Shox directly and ask questions.
619-596-9820. Andrew should answer the phone and he can answer any questions you have.

Wow that looks very nice...guess i gotta choose a diff set of rims....

Are those the fox 2.0 series. Did they have a problem with the eyelet size on the shock being too small for the shock mount on the rear diff? A real good friend of mine was telling me they were having issues with that and that alot of companies were using the bilstiens on the rear( he works sales at 4 wheel parts here in nor cal so i figure his statement is valid)

Nice quad......do you know what happened to chris from socalquads.com? I met him at pismo about 2 years ago right after he finished his 400 and talked to him a few times on exriders.com then no more post or e mails..........

Mike330R
08-27-2004, 10:52 AM
Yes these are the 2.0 and yes ORW had to make new inserts for these shocks for the rear. They were aware of it before they mounted them. Not a huge deal.

They also had to grind a small amount off the upper shock mounts.
