: 2 stroke oil in LBZ

While at the Kubota dealer i got into a discussion on fuel additives. I told the partsguy i used 4oz of 2 stroke oil plus FPPF in every tank. He noticed my LBZ and said that because of the extremely tight tolerances in the IP on the LBZ, the large size of the oil molecule could damage the IP.

The 2 stroke was OK for my tractor and 6.5 though. Any thoughts on this from those more knowledgable than me?

Whats the size of an oil molecule compared to the the tightest injector and/or pump tolerance?
I doubt he can answer that question let alone give advice on what oil is doing to our trucks.

An oil molecule is approximately 25 angstroms.

The definition of angstrom is:

A unit of measurement equal to .1 nanometer, which is approximately 1/250 millionth of an inch. Angstroms are used to measure the wavelengths of light and the elements in a chip. One nanometer is equal to 10 angstroms, and one micron is equal to 10,000 angstroms. The size of an atom is three to 10 angstroms.

Whats the tightest tolerance in our fuel systems?
I do not believe its even close to the molecular level seen in oil.

It'll be fine.

2 stroke is an excellent additive to combat the effects of ULSD. Litre per tank is better, IMO.

I share your views but thought i should get a consensus of opinions as I have been known to be wrong once in a while. My wife says all the time but that's another story. I will continue to use the 2 stroke oil and may even up it a little.
Thanks

so long as you use factory racor filter that gm requires(2 micron) it should filter fuel enough to prevent damage to fuel system. i would think more likely to get damage from lack of lube.

I just purchased a 2004 Silverado 2500HD with LLY, should I be adding two stroke to my fuel along with an additive? I am currently using Powerservice Diesel Kleen Any recomnedations?

Figured I would try the 2-stroke oil when I filled up recently and drove a few hundred miles and surprisingly the engine got quieter and ran smoother. I added a quart.

I'm sold on the idea now:D and went to wally world and bought more.

Just be careful because adding that 2 stroke oil will produce additional ash and soot in addition to lubrication. Nasty oil and carbon fouled spark plugs in two strokes are quite common, along with fouled rings, so don't get carried away and pour in too much. In the new 2007 LMM engines that would raise havioc with the DPF and possibly clog it up, and result in early failure. There are additives designed especially to add lubricity and CETANE to ULSD fuel and I prefer to use those.

I failed to mentioned also added added a few ozs of PS. It does smoke a tad bit more.

Will let you know when my sparkplugs get fouled;)
