: 2006 2500HD Duramax Front end vibration
lukenco 01-17-2007, 11:05 PM I have 06’ 2500HD Duramax with about 5K miles. I’m getting high vibration from front end while vehicle is in 4X4, gear in 6th, RPM around 1.2K, Speed around 46MPH. Once RPM or Speed changes from those limits or gear moves down to 5th vibration stops. Anyone with similar problem. Called dealer for appointment next week, but would like to know if anyone else had similar problem.
Thanks
NCMIC 01-17-2007, 11:44 PM haven't experienced that one, but I will try it out later to see if it happens on my new LBZ
wesmadden 01-18-2007, 12:27 AM I experienced the same vibration. Just took the truck to the dealer today, got the computer reflashed and now the vibration is gone. Yes, a reflash fixes this. The service guy knew exactly what I was talking about when I brought it in. I live in Fairbanks and everyone drives in 4x4, so I guess it's a common problem in our market.
jr832189 01-18-2007, 02:56 AM My truck starting doing the same thing only in 4 hi it starts around 45 mph untill it switches to the next gear than it is gone. When put back in 2-wd it does not have any vibration @ all so i will be takeing it in to the dealer also i hope it"s an easy fix like yours!!!!
fearnot 01-18-2007, 02:40 PM My truck does this in 5th at 46 mph/13k rpm and 6th at 51mph/13krpm but I only drive in 2wd.
This was the biggest thing that it was at the dealer for, they called me today and said blah blah blah.. variable vane TC... blah blah... normal not a problem.
I find that hard to believe. This is a noise that sounds like it's wearing something out.
coobiekickstand 01-18-2007, 11:24 PM what kind of roads are you driving, asphalt or concrete, or dirt?
coobiekickstand 01-18-2007, 11:31 PM My brother had a simlar occurance in a half ton on concrete roads, or I-25 be it. The factory called it "frame beaming", ask your dealer about it, my moms 2500hd LLY ext cab does it too, but my 06 Crew Cab doesn't, I think it is a touch and go thing, some have it some don't.
deepsouth 01-19-2007, 06:57 PM I am not being critical, just curious. Why do some members posting say shifting down to a higher gear? Wouldn't the correct statement be what we have always said, "Shift up to a higher gear, shift down to a lower gear" ?
tophog 01-19-2007, 08:34 PM The frame beaming thing is explained in this thread as well as the TSB.

lukenco 01-29-2007, 09:28 PM Service adviser informed that there was service bulletin regarding front end shudder and fix was to reflash transmission program. Only thing reflash did was to chage gear down to 5th gear from 6th if speed of vehicle drops down to about 52 mph. I’m not sure if this is good fix, but front end shudder is gone since gear moves down to 5th before it reaches about 46 mph.
