Hello, My 91 6.2 glow plug dash light went on and off quickly while driving last night. Is this something to be concerned about? Could it be the controller or plugs need replaced? I have owned it for a couple of weeks now and don't know a whole lot about diesels but i am learning from this forum. Thanks in advance.

Don't know about the later 6.2's, but the manual on my '83 K5 with a 6.2 says that the glow plug light may come on after the engine has started and/or is driving, and that it isn't anything to be concerned about as long as it doesn't stay on for an extended amount of time.

When my glow plug controller was good then the light would flash sometimes when I was warming up the engine. If the engine is hot then you should never get power to the glow plugs. There is a thermostat controller in the right rear head that will not let your glow plug solenoid activate if your engine is warm. I have about 215K miles on mine, but I assume they fail at some time. The glow plug controllers in the left rear head don't last very long. When mine failed (60-70K miles) then I by-passed it and put in a manual switch.
