I am looking to replace my BFG All Terrains with the Commercial version. I liked the ATs, but I am not get long read life and I only run them on my truck from November until March. About 15,000 miles a winter season and they are gone in 2 seasons. Not good. The ATs are a great tire as long as you do not go in the mud. I need a great snow tire that I can tow 8,000lbs with and still be pretty decent on the highway as I travel alot in my truck. Anyone have good or bad opinions of the Commercial?

Thanks for the help for my next set.

PS, I was also looking at the Toyo M-55s in the 265 version, but I do not know anyhting about them.

I had really bad luck with commercial ta's. I am running Michelins ltx m/s now and have just under 100k on them. They should last another 10-15k, they are a really good tire but expensive. Next I am going to try Kuhmo, I have read alot of good things and I can get them for $87 ea (215/85/16) from Tire Rack.

What do you mean by bad luck? Are they good in the snow? Do they travel on the highway well?

Thanks

What are you doing running that tiny tire, 215's wow. I was looking at those tires as well however I was looking at the 245/75/16. They're only $91. If you decide to go with them let me know how you like them.

Not really good in the snow, they were ok on the highway. My biggest complaint was how bad and uneven they wore out. I check my pressures once a week and kept them even, and the rears all wore at different rates. BFG replaced under warranty and it took 7 tires to find 4 that they could get a good balance on. This 4 still did not last long.

I'm running the traction series and find them to be very sure-footed. I only have 23,000 miles on them, so we will see how the mileage ends up. So far they look pretty good.

I'm running the 215's on my truck. That's what came stock on the build sheet. The tires were new when I bought the truck so they are going to stay on there until they are dead.

Haven't had the truck long enough to form an opinion on the TA commercials.

I have been running Commercial Traction T/As. I haul a horse trailer every weekend without unhooking and pull twice a week. All trips are 100 miles or more each. So far the tires have been great.

I use the standard Commercial T/As on all of my light duty tow/flatbed trucks in my fleet. The durability and longevity of these tires on those trucks prompted me to buying the Tractions. Tractions have a nice aggresive pattern for winter weather or in my case pulling the trailer into a pasture to load a injured horse!

BTW, I increased to a 235/85R16 on my truck to lower the revs at 70MPH. Hope you find what you are looking for. My opinion of these tires are they are great for fleet service and have held up very well in my fleet and personal truck.

The BFG Commercial T/A Tractions in 245s have been ordered. I would have went for the 265s, but they are for 7-8" wide rims and mine are 6.5s. Also the 265s have 15/32 of tread and the 245s have 18/32 of tread.

Thanks all for your time.

Next time go with the 265's, they will wear just fine, plus you will have lower revs at highway speeds. I did the same thing to my 98 2500, and was glad I did it. Also, 265's will fit the rim and they dont look bad at all, that is just a guideline BFG puts out, but I had two sets on my truck pulling bulls every weekend and still got 45K out of each set.

I know you already bought the tires, but I have put an average of 70K miles on two sets of the hiway version. The first 20K miles rotated at 5K and then every 10K with the oil change. I do alot of towing and noticed that they tend to feather easy in the begining. The winter tire of choice for me is a used set of Dodge factory BFG's mounted on H2 rims.

:grd: I had the TA Tractions put on this morning and drove around for 100 miles. they are really nice. The tread is awesome and very deep, 18/32 deep:eek: . They really ride good and they do not make much sound. Much quieter thant the BFG AT KO that came off.

I will see how they wear, but they are a little harder than the old ones and very aggressive tread pattern. Now just let the snow fly and I am off and running.
