: Edge doesn't like the cold?
it was 20 degrees last night and pulling a slight uphill in level 1, going about 70 MPH rolling into the pedal slowly it felt a little jerky. Almost like a clogged injector or a miss. But at a constant speed no jerk action. Put the edge to level 0 and right away it went away under acceleration. Put it back on level 1 and it started up again. Engine was at 182 degrees. Got down into Sacramento and the temp was around 35 degrees and it didn't do it. Coming back home it was fine until I got into the 24 degree weather again and it started to miss again, but only under acceleration and light acceleration. could the cold be messing up the Juice?
billygoat7c 01-16-2007, 05:08 PM idn, but my edge quit on me when it was about ten degrees out.
HeavyHD 02-06-2007, 08:45 PM I have had the exact same problem. Seems like a big miss but mine did it twice in a row and I put it on stock and it went right away. I would really like to know if the cold is doing this or if it is a defect. If it is the cold I wonder if there is a way we can keep the module warmer?? I am considering on switching to the predator and putting regular guages in the pillar if I am going to have to put up with this everytime it get cold here in northern indiana.
Put insulation material around your edge box. It s help alot.
travrazz 02-07-2007, 03:31 PM I've noticed the same thing with my edge. When the outside temp is below 25, it seems to miss and spit when you get on it, but fine when just cruising down the highway. I have a predator sitting on my table that I'm going to try and see how that works with the cold weather, but havent' gotten any guages installed yet so that's on hold right now. I have heard of guys zip tieing the box the radiator hose to keep it warm as well.
My edge has been working fine down to -20f.. Arm

Doesn't the EDGE only kick in at engine temps above 180 degrees? If you are teetering around that temp I can see where problems would result.

Chevy HD 02-07-2007, 10:00 PM Mine hasn't acted up and its been in temps around -10F.
blackbeast04lly 02-15-2007, 09:40 AM I have 04lly with the edge with attitude and i have the same problem. When the temperature gets 32 degrees it wont work its to cold for it.

....insert pro-PREDATOR comment here.....:)
stepuptata 02-17-2007, 04:49 PM thats exactly why I didn't buy an edge. I bought a predator. Its been -5 here and no issues. I've had it for 2 years.
got-h2o 02-17-2007, 05:33 PM Mine never runs bad when it's cold, but I notice a big performance difference.
Is there a monitor available for the Predator?
Edge is supposed to have full power at 170 degrees with version 1.2.
justintt 02-24-2007, 11:41 AM I have been experiencing the same problem that has been described here with my 05 LLY w/ edge w/ attitude. I have not been able to attribute the condition to a specific outside temp since it when it happens has been inconsistent. I will state that it happens when the engine temp is over 180 degrees and when it occurs it happens in levels 1-5 and will go away if I switch to level 0.
I would like to know if anyone has spoken to Edge directly about this problem and hear what their response was.
JUSTIFIED HD2 02-27-2007, 08:09 PM I spoke to edge on it and they said the module is just getting to "cold". They suggested using zip ties to hold the module on the upper radiator hose. I've done this now for the last two winters and it works great. No more plugged fuel filter feeling. When spring comes I just remove it and put it back to its normal spot.
hdmikehd 03-02-2007, 08:25 PM I was having similar problems with my truck..But it still happened after I disconnected the edge..I am throwing a map sensor code and a turbo limp mode code I think they said...I am getting a egr blocker plate and a chip for the removal of the cat..hopefully it will solve the problems...We will see precision diesel in west babylon ny is doing the work he seems to think that will solve the problem..He did say that he doesnt like the edge also..he said he removes alot of them..
IH PULR 03-02-2007, 08:53 PM Strap the little box to the upper radiator hose helped me with my hesitation problem when its cold
