There have been a number of discussions about what to do with the EGT probe for stealer visits and possible warranty concerns.
Since my Attitude is mounted in the overhead with an ATS mount, I needed to figure a way to cover the fact that the black plastic which forms that upper cubby hole was missing as well. When you take out the ATS mount, you can see the interior of the roof. Since you have to cut the plastic piece out, replacing it was not really an option.
Some here have just left the probe in place, some have put a plug in the exhaust manifold, but I was concerned since my SM is not user friendly. So I got a piece of black 1/4" thick Lexan from a local trophy shop patterned with the ATS mount. Had them cut the 2 1/16th" diameter hole in the middle for the Autometer gauge and went to work.
I had to run switched ignition power to the overhead along with the EGT probe wires, but it wasn't bad. Now when the Attitude is out, I just hook up the wires coming from the probe to the Juice, to the gauge wires. Plug in the power to the gauge and press in the Lexan.
Now if I can get a plug for the Attitude cable so all I have to do is unplug it at the console, things will be really easy. If that doesn't work, I'm thinking you could just lay the Attitude behind the Lexan rather than pull the cable each time. Here's a pic, I thought it turned out well.
