: 01-03 seats different??
Polarbear 08-11-2004, 09:33 PM My Covercraft seatcovers came today and went to go try and get them on real quick tonight, but didnt go as i expected....They came w/not so great instrcutions so that just added to the confusion...all they say is driver or passenger...I looked at the box and it says for 99-01 Chevy HD pickups....Does anyone know if the design of the seats, or size changed from 01 to the 03???http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif
BlueOx03 08-11-2004, 10:08 PM Yes they changed shape in 03 and they seem bigger(thicker) too...

Colorado Kid 08-12-2004, 09:37 AM I don't know that the seats changed from year to year, but I know that even though the center section of my "bench" seat is seperate from the driver and passenger seats the driver and passenger seats are different from the ones in trucks with "bucket" seats. The bucket seats center armrests are built into the seatbacks, but the bench seat center armrest is the back rest of the center section. Got that?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif The result is that the bucket seats are less comfortable for me because the seat back is effectively narrower than my shoulders. If I was skinny I'd probably like the buckets better than my split bench. It's hard for me to imagine that one seat cover could fit both designs.
03GMC2500HD 08-12-2004, 10:59 AM My dad has a 2000 Silverado and his front buckets are the same as my 03 GMC buckets. We tried my set of Marathon seat covers on each and they fit fine.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif
Bronco 08-12-2004, 11:09 AM I have the covercraft seat covers on my 03. They are a real BEEZATCH to put on the first time.
Basically the bottom of the seat is one piece. The back of the seat is another piece.
The center console is a separate piece.
The head rest are separate pieces.
The backseat bench is two peices as well. ( required removing)
Basically slide the botom on from the front. Straps go under back rest and around sides.
Backrest wraps around and velcrows down the side.
Head rest remove with a little allen wrench or punch. Just push in on the little hole.
I tell you once they are on they look great. They fit tight as a glove and most people have no idea that hey are not from the factory!
IIRC you will have to cut for the head reat holes and for the power seat adjuster.
Polarbear 08-12-2004, 08:58 PM C.Kid- The covers are right in seat configuration 40/20/40 buckets..
Hey Bronco, where did you order yours from??? I could only find them at Bass Pro and Cabelas... I went w/Bass Pro as they had the faster shipping....Like i said i got the ones that say they are for 99-01 w/ 40/20/40 seats(which i got) and they just seemed liike they(covers) were a bit too small for the seat. But the fact that i had no idea of how to put them on may ahve played a role in it....What got me thinking they might be differnt, is like i said in my first post, that the headrest cover didnt come close to gettin the velcro together....oh well we will see.. Your right tho im super impressed w/them. I got the charcoal to match my interior, and they almost identical. Plus theyve got a great texture....I think they are going to be great for on the farm...
Heres a link to them, if anyone else was interested...i got the 4th ones down....

BlueOx03 08-12-2004, 10:18 PM Crap, I was thinking the leather itself, they changed the listing channels. To me they do look thicker too, but I guess they're not...

Bronco 08-12-2004, 11:09 PM I got mine from cabellas. Will have to ask the wife to look up the receipt to verify year ordered for.
They do fit very tight when installing. The good news is when you want to remove a section for cleaning, it comes off and goes back on very easy.
Polarbear 08-13-2004, 09:51 PM Well, got some time to test fit them and all goes on fine more or less....Few problems i do got are that I couldnt get the inside wraparound to connect for the passenger seat.....kinda hoping it might be a bit easier after washing them...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif 2nd was on the driver seat the cutout for the power controls...i couldnt get to line up, i got it as far back as just about the start of the lever....Lastly there are two pieces that i have no clue go asto what they go to...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/uploads/FB7_000_03191.jpg
Im assuming the one on the right is for the center sectionbut i dont know howd i get it on...i got no clue on the other thing.....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/uploads/D2F_000_03221.jpg
Bronco 08-13-2004, 10:38 PM Okay. You have mentioned 3 problems.
First the power seat cut out. I had no cut out provision. i had to install the seat cover, exactly like real life. Then reach up and place a mark with a red colored pencil on th eunder side of the cover where the power adjuster was. I then removed the seat cover and used a razor blade to make a 1 " long insicion. This allowed me to place the slit over the adjuster. Wala, perfect fit.
Second you have apicture with two pieces. The center console does take two pieces. One for the bench and one for the console. The bench slides over the fron of the bench and down the sides. It just velcrows in place. The console cover is a little strange. It only fits the bottom of the console. So you only gain benifit when the console is up for the full bench. If I lift my console lid, I have elastic bands that go over my storage area.
From looking at you pictures, maybe you have one of your seat bottoms mixed up with the console cover?
This would solve your third problem of the passenger seat not reaching around.
I noticed alot of loose material on the corner of your driver seat and also your passenger seat. I am telling you, my covers fit like a glove. You can not even tell they are covers at all. I am wondering if you still have the pieces mixed up or have been shipped the wrong ones?
Does the seating area of the cover have ridges and padding just like a factory seat?
Bronco 08-13-2004, 10:50 PM After looking at you pictures it made me wonder. I checked my receipts and I actually ordered the saddleman brand Ultimate-Fit covers from Cabellas. so we are comparing Apples to Oranges. Sorry about that. From looking at the Cabellas catolog you have to call and speak with a rep. to get the actuall covercraft part number. I hope you got the right part.
Maybe try and call Probass, Iknow the lady at Cabellas was real helpfull when I was purchasing/installing my seat covers.
Sorry about the confusion, I looked at Covercraft before I purchased the saddlemans. Damn faulty memory!
Polarbear 08-15-2004, 05:26 PM Hey, yea thats where got mine from...BassPro. Wheni ordered i think i just saw the Hd and instantly thought boom plus Cabela said it might be up to 3-4 weeks...Pro had them here in just over a week... for the same price. Anyways while riding around w/a bud yesterday wer figured that the piece on the left(looks like a stingray) must somehow just cover the bottom part of the seat so when up its covered, like you said.....Not exactly sure what im gonna do about my power seat thing tho....maybe it got better when washed....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif
