I took my 03 Duramax with 34K miles in today for some repair work. I have issues with the following:


1. Steering knock


2. poor A/C


3. low coolant - no leak, bad fuel mileage and intermittent white smoke while under load.


4. "4WD Service" in DIC


The Service Adviser just called and said that they pulled all kinds of codes out and one of them was: B2961.


He said that this code involved the computer not being able to read the truck key. Have any of you Techs ever dealt with this code? This dealership hasn't.


He also told me the intermediate shaft was shot which caused steering issues and the coolant leak was due to a leaking water pump. I'll have to find out later about the other codes and issues my truck is having.


I have to pick-up a rental tonight from them because all the parts are under some type National backorder and he said it might take several days to get everthing sorted out.

ther is a reprogram bulliten for the code its a pass lock sensor falt I have seen lose concetions at the sensor(ignition sw part of the lock cylinder)and have seen falty sensors. good luck

Thanks for your reply on the code. It sounds like it should be fixable.


The Service Writer...In fact the whole Service Dept., including the Manager, is new and I'm just not sure what kind of group I'm dealing with. The dealership owner has several dealerships and he rotates staff. At least that is what they are saying. I don't like it because I had become confident the last group had my interest along with the dealerships interest in mind.
