: Stainless Tip Cracks

I just put an MBRP exhaust on my truck a week or so ago and installed the Stainless tip Monday (8/9/04) night. I looked at it this morning and there are little spider cracks all around it in the finish. I can't imagine how it could have scratched like that in one day of driving around. They really look more like cracks than scratches. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this normal?

It is the MBRP 12" bolt on tip.

Sounds like some kinda coating on it baked off. Try some metal polish on it.

I would just call mbrp, they might replace it.

Called MBRP this morning and sent them pictures of the tip. They are sending me a new tip today.

Braz,

Wow that's a new one I have sold literally 1000's of those and never seen that. Could you do me a favor, try to polish it and see what you get, curiosity is getting the best of me on this!!!

These were not scratches. They are like spider cracks that run all the way around the thing. They are running almost in concentric circles. I can't post the pics here, the forum message they are too big.

Mark, if you want to see the pictures I took, PM your email address to me and I will send them to you. In the pictures though they look like scratches but they are deeper then the picture shows.

geno,

All of our tips are T304 polished stainless, no chrome as it will chip in a few weeks with rocks thrown up by the rear wheel and then start rusting pretty quick etc.
