: HELP?! I need help on my Allison...

OK guys, I know I should know this, but I am between a rock and a hard place.

My 07 Classic hit 5000 miles, so I thought I would change the spin off filter on the Allison. So, after finding that NAPA has one for $16 (Dealer wanted $40!) I filled up the filter with Dextron VI (only available at Chevy dealer!!) I took off the old one and installed the new one.

WELL, after I buttoned everything up, and went to throw out the old filter, I noticed that it has a magnet that sits on the top of the filter. Needless to say, I didn't know that and therefore didn't install it on the new filter. SO, I decided to take the new filter back off, but before I could do that, I managed to drop the magnet and shatter it into 5 pieces. (yes, that is MY luck...)

So my question is, can I drive at least for a little while without the magnet?

I have to go in for service on Tuesday morning anyways, so I could pick up a new magnet at Chevy then, but I didn't know if it is OK to drive a day or two without it.

All in all, it was a crappy day with this magnet thing and that I also managed to knock the oil jug when filling the oil (I also did an oil change) and spilled oil all over the fan and shroud which took FOREVER to clean up...ARGG!

You may have been having a bad day, but having a bad day is also having changed your oil, you step in the container of oil when you have a new pair of tennis shoes on after leaving it set for a couple of days. That is st+++d...
