Hi all and thank you for this great place to discuss Duramax Trucks:) I have a chance to purchase a new pre-january build 07 Duramax Cab and Chasis lwb for 2k off the sticker price.

I have been driving the Cummins but the posts on this forum lead me to believe that the Duramax is a good truck for pulling a fiver:D I make my living with my truck and since I need a new one, could some of you jump in here and let me know how your trucks have been holding up for the long haul:p:

As you know, time in the shop is time off the road. I would be interested in hearing how well the truck has been for you on a daily basis and any problems with the allison transmission and the duramax engine. I tow about 10k lbs. As with all my trucks this one would be 100% stock.

Thanks, penguin7009

Nearly 11,000 miles towing/daily driving without any downtime yet. 9000 lbs trailer. Actually, the new trailer has seen more downtime than the truck b/c flat tire.

Thanks very much for the info:D . Looks like a good deal on a great truck:) Drove the truck today and it runs great! The transmission seems to always keep the engine in the powerband.

Read some on these forums about problems "limping" the Allison:confused: Has this been a problem for anyone on the stock truck under normal conditions?

I am not certain if that is good price on an older design truck. Usually the outgoing design on a change over year are sold very cheap. It may be different this year because of all the changes in diesels may keep the last of the classics at a premium. I could be a little off, but I think I bought my low option 06 LBZ work truck for about $6K off the sticker in Dec 05. I think there were people getting full option trucks for about $8 or $9 K off sticker.

Agree.

You should get much more off than $2k. I'd look for at least $6k off.

Thanks again. I forgot to mention that the deal includes an eight foot fifthwheel flat bed with under body boxes and bumper reciever hitch:D

I like the truck and after talking to you folks and hearing the good luck you have had with yours, I'm inclined to purchase:p:

Let you know how it goes.

Hi everybody:) , well took the plunge and picked up the 07 Duramax 6.6 with fiver flat bed and under body boxes.:D It only has 57 mi on the clock after driving from the dealer:rolleyes: but drives and rides suprisingly good for what it is and the seats are very comfortable. Haven't figured out how to use all the stuff that the Allision transmission can do but so far I really like it.

Its dark and 30 degrees out now so pics will have to wait. I would like to thank you all for your input and I think I am really going to love this truck. I will keep you informed as the miles roll across the clock:p:

2007 classic / 3500 crew Lt3 / 4x4 / airaid /mbrp cat back / 2805 super chip /
Replaced a 2005 single axle duramax when i started towing a 10000lb tag back and forth from florida to north carolina for a job i'm working on up there / 2500 never gave me any trouble(20,000 miles) just wanted the piece of mind of the dual rear (lets face it anybody has the chance to justify a dually and they jump on it) either truck with the duramax allison setup in my opinion is the undisputed best towing machine in its class / enjoy the new ride

That's because it was made by GM!!!;)

And you won't limp the tranny if you keep it stock. Even with a 90HP tune you probably won't limp it.

Go to the Allison website, it will show a lot more than the manual. Congratulations on the new ride!!

Just picked up my first diesel Monday...an 07 Classic 3500 Lt3 C.C. 4X4 Duramax and the only words that come to mind is AWESOME!!
I've never driven a tractor trailer but that's what this baby reminds me of....pure raw power...just glides down the road. Actually makes driving fun again.

Work it hard, my 06 now has over 190,000 miles on it. You are going to love the Allison, its such an improvement over anything Dodge has had. As you can see by my signature I was also a loyal Dodge Cummins owner that is now a happy Dmax owner.
