My engine does not need replaced or rebuilt now but i was just curious about some things. So here is my questions. Thanks in advance. '

1) Is there a book one can buy to rebuild their 6.2? ( sorta like how to rebuild a small block chevy )

2) Where can you buy a rebuilt 6.2

3) What modifications do you have to make to put a 6.5td in place of a 6.2?

1, I dont know

2, lots of places on the internet sell them, I'd check local machine/fuel shops first.

3. 6.5 is identical to the 6.2 as far as size and mounting locations. You will likely need to use a different downpipe, crossover should work, but I'm not 100% sure on that. Get the airbox for a 6.5 or an aftermarket one.Edited by: Texas Diesel Guy

An answer to #1 - I just recently found out that Haynes Repair Manuals make a TechBook Manual #10330 (GM and Ford Diesel Engine Repair Manual) I would guess this would have most of the info you are looking for.

1. You can use that haynes manual. It works quite well. If you have a good grasp on automotive engine rebuilding then you can tackle a 6.2L.. If ya have any questions we'll be glad to answer them.

2. Um From us if you want.. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Hug.gif

3. 6.5L TD will have some obvious different exhaust issues but with a little work they will fit into a 6.2L engine bay. Right now 6.5L's are in super high demand though. Jasper has a military contract on them and has bought up every core almost in the US.. It would be hard for you to find a 6.5L long block under $3k... and since you don't have a core it's probably another $800+ core charge..

Ahhh....

So that's why it costs the same to buy a 6.5L in a running truck as from the salvage. And why you can't find a van intake/exhaust at a salvage.

Two rebuilders are still listing the 6.5L for $2200. www.6.5l-diesel-engines.com (http://www.6.5l-diesel-engines.com) and another.
