The PSD is in a 2002 F250 crewcab 4x2 and has 56k miles... The truck inside and out is almost mint, but thats kinda alot of miles for a '02...
The Cummins is in a 2003 dodge ram 2500 4x2 quadcab w/40k miles. Like new, mint...(even more miles for the year though)
Both are about the same price. (at or around $25k)
My questions:
1. What benefits does that year PSD have over a Cummins, if any at all? (besides a lil more Torque)

2. Are there any known "issues" with the 2002 PSD or powerstroke diesels in general?

3. Does that new "rail injection" on the cummins really
make them much quieter?

Thanks...Edited by: DLayman

1. Not sure.. It is a V-8 vs a I-6

2. The main issues with the 2002 trucks is when you start going over 400RWHP you risk snapping a rod/windowing the block because they started putting powdered metal rods in those trucks. Powdered metal rods in theory are stronger but don't "give" at all and thus are more brittle.

3. Yes, the new injection makes the Cummins REALLY quiet.. You can barely hear them idle.

Keep in mind you get a REAL Crew cab if you go with the Ford and a nicer looking truck (IMHO)

I too had the same ? 4 monthes ago I went for the 2003 Cummins and I never looked back. I was a big ford guy for a long time. Then I start working on the Cummins engine in the Coast Guard and fell I love with them.
