I've been running the edge on 3/5 all the time since i got my tranny done. The last couple of weeks have been pretty cold here and after the pickup idles for a while after driving somewere I get some hit and miss chattering upon acceleration. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen? If i turn the edge back to stock it immediately goes away. Also seems to be fine once it gets back up to full operating temp.

Edge doesn't like the cold. Strap the Edge module to your Engine upper rad hose and see if that helps.

Glad I saw this. The other night I had my pickup running for quite a while because it was -15*F and when I left it sounded not-so-right. I wasn't sure if it was being shorted on fuel due to only having 1/5 #1 or what. Cleaned up once I got out on the highway.

Wow, same thing happened to me last night. I even made a post about it today. I was only in 20 degree weather when it happened.

It is not because the edge or any other programer is cold...its because the programers advance the timeing of the engine...advanced timeing and extreem cold equals engine ping...thats why when you turned your edge to 0 it went away...the higher you turn your edge up the more the timeing goes up....

I'm not believing that. The engine temp was at about 190 degrees when it did this. It had just been sitting idling for a while. Once I got out on the road, the engine temp never came up any so it should have kept doing it but it didn't, it went away.

Same exact thing has been happening to me and only after idling for a while. Temps here have been 0 to -30.

Put insulation material around your edge box. It will help alot. I have made that with my VA and its make a big difference when its get really cold outside. I think that the problem is not caused only by too much timing but also because these box are just not made to go in the cold. Me and some of my buddy with a Bd intimidator, predator never have problem when running a bid tune with lot of timing in the cold when the tune come from a tuner. Its just rattle a bit when the motor is cold but it never cut -off or miss. Stupid ingenior have not designed and tested their plug in box for the cold weather... A VA or edge box is not really different from a ecm and the ecm of the durumax is reliable even if its -40 outside...

I'm glad I found this thread, Scared the HE!! out of me the other day, outside temp -30 c. Engine temp 145 on the edge and set on 1/1 and just leaving a parking lot she rattled like she was coming apart, just switched to stock and cleared up, has me wondering if I should unplug it completly when it's that cold? By the way , truck had been running for about four hours that morning, and idled in the parking lot for about 20 minutes high idle activated and winter front on grill and bumper plus a cardboard covering half the air-to-air. the truck never got abouve 160 that day, even when I was plowing.

Having more problems with my edge. Over the last couple days it has been doing this "chugging" thing on level 3 occassionally. One time out it will run like a champ and the next time out it will run like crap. Temps have been 20-35*F and I've been watching the module temperature and it has been about 40-50*F.

I've experienced this myself with my Juice. It's more of a hammering like you have square tires, but only when you roll into it. Light load it's fine. Only when it is VERY cold outside...

I have the exact same prob that all the rest of you guys have. It has been pretty darn cold here in indiana the last few weeks. Anywere from highs of 12 during the day to 0 at night and in the morning on my way to work or late at night coming home I hear this chatter coming from the area where my edge module is and all the wiring is. Only seems to happen when I roll into it or up a slight incline. Also maybe it is just me or not but ill have the cruise set about 60 down a long, straight, smooth section of road and the truck will seem to "miss" maybe. It surges or lunges kinda like a gasser with a bad plug wire or something. I dont hear any diff in the motor really but I can definantly feel something. Just thought I would throw in my 2cents! CHRIS
