I am not sure where the moderators want this. And please forgive my impatience. While I can get this info Monday, perhaps someone out there already knows the cost of OEM skidplates for a Chevy 3500. They are a $95 option on a new truck order. I am looking at a new truck that does not have them (has everything else) and am wondering what they cost if ordered from the parts department. While I am not into any serious off-road stuff, I have found the skid plates to be essential on deeply rutted Forest Service roads.

First, before you go putting your money down on Stock Skid Plates, find a 07 HD truck that has them and take a look at them. Might want to go with a aftermarket skid plate(s). I have factory skid plates on my 05, and they aren't that impressive. I would put them in a category of Light Duty. They may have changed them since 2005, but I doubt it. This is GM we are talking about.
You might be able have them put on as a dealer installed option. May even be the same price ($95).
I have not done the research on any aftermarket skid plates, to see if they exist, but someone who knows may give a link for ya.

Good Luck,
jc

I put them on my LBZ. They are very easy to install and only took a little time. If I remember I paid about 100 for the front plate and transfer case plate and then about 25 dollars for the 6 bolts that they didn't come with to mount the plates.

I have a factory front skid and a transfercase skid plate from a 2004.5 that I am trying to get rid of. Sacramento, CA.

PM me if interested.

Also, you may want to check out some of the supporting vendors, i was looking through a few days ago and saw one of them that had the kit for 110.

with my experience with the dealers adding things on it will cost more than the package from the factory. found this out wen i had my camper mirrors put on and almost roof markers. id have to agree that the plates arent the strongest but sure do help, not like we are rockcrawling with our diesels anyway...

does anyone make aftermarket skids by any chance? dont think ive ever seen or heard of them.

I got my OEM skid plate kit for my 2006 from Merchant Automotive. I think they are one of the supporting vendors of this site. With shipping I paid $124 with the bolts. SKU#12496035. Super easy install. This was the cheapest I found.
