: If money were not an issue..
VFRRider 08-10-2004, 05:11 PM As I save my pennies and collect returnables for my quest for power, I'm wondering what it would take for say, a 600 rwhp daily driver.
I'm thinking..
Engine:
Stock Intake
Kennedy VA 200+ or TTS Extreme
ATS Turbo (when it comes)
KD injectors
Nitrous or Water/Meth for on demand increase in power
ATS full 4 Inch Exhaust (when it comes with the true 4" downpipe for the ATS turbo)
Trans:
ATS full shot or Suncoast Level 5
Drivetrain:
Beefed UJoints
SD Sleeves and Centerlink
Im thinking that should be about it, am I missing anything that would be needed?
Options: (that may or may not add HP or durability)
Lift Pump or FASS
Secondary Fuel Filtration (but I already have that)
Oil Bypass
AFE Stage 2 intake or similar
Driveshaft Loops
ELocker
What say you power dogs.. what would your setup be? Think I could get there with this setup? Anything missing?

duramax hd 08-10-2004, 06:15 PM AFE-TTS extreme-Nitorus-Propane-Water/meth, and maybe a suncoast stage 5 to harness that power. Maybe a turbo when it comes out, but as super diesel experienced, that will get you closer to 800HP rather than 600HP. The more Hp the better, thats what I say.
VFRRider 08-10-2004, 07:08 PM IIRC SD made that on a stock turbo and injectors. He used lots of Nitrous and Lots of water/meth, I think at a rate of almost a gallon per min IIRC. What I want is to get there on #2. The water/meth and nitrous for the occasional momentary lapse of reason. I want smooth but ferocious response out of the go pedal. I don't want to have to stack to get it, and I don't want to have to detune it to drive it daily. Obscene useable powerhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Thumbs Up.gif.

I plan on eventually doing everything you mentioned EXCEPT Nitrous and Water/Meth. I would expect that 600rwhp can be easily reached without these and possibly 650+rwhp when the injectors are matched to the ATS turbo. I'm to lazy to refill anything more than the fuel tank.
DIESEL 5 08-10-2004, 09:32 PM VFR,
You forgot the new high performance Duramax cylinder heads that are available from ***************.com

White Duramax 08-10-2004, 09:39 PM I think all that you will really need to make 600hp should be a good 200+ single tune. Upgraded turbo, exhaust, and a tranny.

I guess I'm on the right track then, nitrous or water/meth only if I needed more. Since you've already got a good start on the list, and you can't seem to stop http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif, I'll watch your progress closely.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif
Kennedy 08-11-2004, 09:23 AM It's a fun ride, lemme tell you. I've got most all (and a few other minor massages) but the ATS turbo stuff. We'll let Tomac test that one.
The only thing you left out is oringing the heads or improved fasteners so they stay sealed...
sp33d 08-11-2004, 09:46 AM It's not a bad ride, but I want more!
White Duramax 08-11-2004, 09:58 AM Me too, I am getting kinda bored with my current power level.

I was hoping to stay away from having to stud the heads or orings. I am interested in what the turbo will do for someone already with a big box, what kind of gains will be seen.

When PDR finishes modifying turbo #4 for me i will post the results.
All i am looking for is reduced EGT's though..... yeah... that's what it's for....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif
White Duramax 08-12-2004, 09:41 PM Just taking a guess here but with those of us running 200+ programs and stacking and/or injectors, I would venture to say a turbo that cleans up most of the smoke will gain 100+ hp.
