I was woundering if the recirc button should light up like the other one's do?

Mine does, but IIRC you can't always turn it on depending on what mode you’re on.

I guess what I'm trying to ask is that if the illumination part of the button should light up?

I think the recirc option only works if you use max a/c or defrost only feature.

Doesn't work on heat, vent, etc.

Actually recirculate works only on panel, or floor, due to the intake being up on the dash.

The air flow needs to be from the outside when in defrost mode, defrost windshield, or windshield/floor. If you recirculate air during defrost mode you will fog the windshield.

Recirc will not stay on if you are in defrost mode.

Woops !!! Sorry got that one backwards...the older I get the more trouble I have remembering how things go. I was sure it didn't work on all functions...just wasn't thinking clear.

We mostly use our truck for towing our 5th...so in the winter I don't drive the truck much....like 50 miles since October.

Thanks for setting the record straight...good to have so many knowledgable members on this site.

I think he's asking if there should be a backlight behind the button so you can see it in the dark, not whether the orange light is on indicating recirc is on.
Correct?
Pretty sure, but I'll check.

Mine went out when I took the A/C controls out and put them back in. Still haven't had a chance to get it out and look at it again but is it something I can fix or do I just add it to my laundry list of ext warranty fixes for next week?

A lot of times your ext warrenty ownt cover such items"consumables" bulbs. Put it on there, but personally would tell them dont fix it unless its covered, theyd pry charge you 2 arms and legs to get it to light up.

Drove thru a tunnel 2 days ago, they lost power so the lights were out and the ventilation system wasn't working. They had some sort of portable diesel pump or diesel generator running in the middle of the tunnel.... godawful smoke and smell in the tunnel. I had the heat on, tried to recirc, the light blinked and went off, after trying twice more and cursing the GM engineer(s) who designed it, I turned the A/C and then the recirc to see if that would work, but it was 18F in the tunnel and the A/C wouldn't come on and the recirc. wouldn't come on either. I finally just turned off the HVAC system since the vehicle filled with the tunnel smoke. Thanks GM for idiotic HVAC programming and doing away with the particulate filter in my $45K truck.   Ba$tard$.

The recirc button, IIRC, will only stay on if you have the air position switch ??? on feet and/or body. If it is anywhere else (ie defrost), the recirc will blink and not stay on. I don't know if this helps.

I had the duct position on floor heat, and it wouldn't stay on. It blinked and went off. I tried to turn the A/C on and the snowflake symbol blinked and went off the same way as the recic. button did but I thought that might be because it was 18F out. I did not try to change the duct position to vent.

I would just really like the recirc to work when I tell it to come on or off. I don't mind the auto A/C contolling it, but as long as they give me a button to manually operate it, then that button should manually override the auto programming for that particular ignition interval IMHO.

Im sure that is his question. The White Backlight should be on when you turn on the headlights, as are the other backlights for vent position, AC , etc. So you can find the buttons in the dark. The orange light comes on when recirculate is on and in the right position.:)
My question is my white backlight is out on the reciculate button and is it only a light bulb that I can replace or does the whole module have to be replaced??
Thanks

Mine doesnt. Nor does the other one. Just the led's below them. However my truck is older than most disscussed here and I'm pretty sure that the backlights are just blown. Bummer i cant replace them as they are soldered to the board.

Just picked up my spankin new 07 silverado Duramax Lt3 last week and I give up trying to figure out the "auto Climate Control".....call me old fashioned but I put her on manual and find that it is easier to use.......this way I can control the fan speed and temp. exactly the way I want it.......
