Well, I've read most of the threads about this. But, for some reason, all I get for the pics in those threads is the little red X. Some times I get pics, sometimes I don't. And when I need them, I don't.

What I am trying to figure out is where you are putting the diode? Are you removing the relay and soldering to the relay pin, then putting the relay back in the socket? Or, are you taking the cover off the electrical box and soldering to the bottom of the relay socket?

I think you are just soldering to the relay, but without being able to see it, I figured I'd ask to be sure.

For now, I think I'm just going to do highs and fogs together. Seems like it will give me the angle I want.

Thanks,
Steve

Steve,
If the thread is closed you get the little red x. Most annoying sometimes! If the thread is still active you can see the pics. If you notice, a lot of the threads you find with the searches are 2 or 3 years old and are closed....the info is still good but unfortunately no pics.

Mine is an '02 so it doesnt apply to me, but from what I have read, the guys are doing the '03+ mod all from the top, not the bottom of the relay socket.

I just bent the diode ends into the slots and plugged the relays back in over them.

There are several methods to do this mod. Some has just inserted the wire and replaced the relay. I don't like this as there is a chance the wire can come loose and short circuit. The other problem is it can spread out the socket and cause a poor contact situation.

I drilled a small hole in the base of the relay pin, inserted the wire through the hole and soldered it in place. I also added some heat shrink over the diode also to prevent the wire from shorting.

It worked great and I haven't had any problems.

Hope this helps.

Thanks all!

A picture really is worth a thousand words.

Ironically, I looked at the older posts thinking the newer trucks might be different. Didn't realize that that pics don't show from closed threads.

Thanks again.
