I believe I have the surging issue on my 01'. Very small rpm jumps at idle and also in gear when holding the brakes. I can feel it when I take off from a stop also. It seems to go away when if gets warm though. At least I haven't noticed it after it gets warm. I've read on the forum that I could have a bad fuel regulator. Possible? My fuel filter is pretty new (within the last 1000 miles). It seems to have started last week when I filled up the truck. Could it possibly be bad gas? Should I wait to run out the tank and fill up again and see if it goes away? Any help would be appreciated. Also, If I do need to take it if for say, the regulator, is that covered under my 100k waranty and if so, how much deductable would I have to pay. I have 42k on the truck now. Thanks.

Have you ever had the truck reflashed? There is a reflash for that problem. If that does not fix it, then it is probably the fuel pressure regulator sticking. Mine did the same thing. Pay $100 and the rest is under warranty.

No, never had it reflashed since i've had it. I bought it with 39k on it. But like I said, It just started last week when I filled it up, so don't think a reflash will help. I'm leaning towards the regulator myself. Guess I will take it in. Just don't know why it would go away once the truck warms up to normal temp. Any ideas? Thanks for the input also.

One of the techs might be able to explain it. Mine was sticking, most of the time it would surge, once and a while it would idle fine.

Patrick, i'm in New Mexico. Sorry. How much would a regulator normally cost assuming you were gonna do it yourself? More then a deductable? Just curious. Thanks for the input guys.

Dropped the truck off at the dealer tonight. Hope they just go for the regulator. We'll see what happens. Thanks.

My idle is getting horrible. There has been times when my idle will fluctuate like your switiching the H/I from stage 1 to 3.http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Pinch.gif
Problem is it will do it intermediate.

Yep, they said it was my regulator. But go figure, they didn't have one and have to go pick one up. Will then run out of time today. So now I have to drop it off again on monday. Sheesh.
