I have A 1996 Chevy 6.5 TD. It seams to have a slight knock between 1700 & 2000 RPMs. I an new to diesels and loving it. Maybe I am being to concerned maybe it is the sound of the diesel? Please help. This truck has 160000 miles runs great and pulls great . No mods. yet!!I wil probably start with new pipes!Thats if there is nothing wrong with the engine.

does the truck make any smoke when this happens? is it using a lot of oil? are you getting any codes? have you checked your timing?

It is not giving any codes or smoke but it uses about a 1/4 of a quart every fill up of fuel. Could it be the wrong oil or poor quality did not notice until after my last oil change.It is on a warranty that I have to take it to a certified shop to change all fluids.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif

a 15w40 diesel oil is what should be used


if that shop is usin a 5w30 gas oil or such, your consumption will be high
