Changed my fuel filter the other day and at the last couple of fill ups I have noticed about 1 mpg below what I normally get. I see no leaks and I am assuming that if it was pulling air in that it would be hard to start. I recently put 265's on but I was still getting 17.5 vs the 16.5 I am getting now. My calculations are by pen and paper and I am considering about 4% diff for the tires.
Thanks in advance

Did you change where you get fuel? I have seen up to 1 mpg variation with different stations and one when my normal station got a load of poorer fuel. I also lost at least .5 mpg when I went up to 265s. Now I guess you could be seeing dirtier fuel with the new filter. I saw an increase in mpg when I put on another finer filter. If the new filter is not getting out as much junk, since it isn't loaded up yet, then maybe it would show a decrease in mpg. That's about all of the guesses I have for today. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif

You could get that much variation buying at the same statiom. Your stations distributor can't garauntee the same qualiuty fuel every load. Thats been my experience with both Shell and Exxon and the Shell station I trade at says it carries nothing but Premium. I've seen up to 1.5 mpg variation between tanks and the performance difference is really noticeable some times. Once in the while I put a double or triple size load of additive in the dikfference is amazing but its to expensive to do all the time.

What kind of additive do you use?

Right now I'm using FPPF Total Power. When I run out, I'll try something else. Once in the while I dump im 9-10 oz of Mystery Marvel Oil. Don't know for sure but think it will stop the injectors from sticking. I buy the MMO by the gallon and woun't be without it. Use it all my small motors to.
