Hello all.

I am new here and I just bought my first diesel truck. I bought a 2003 Chevy 1 ton crew cab 4x4 long bed. It has 33,000 miles on it. Anyway, I did get a print out on what has been done with the truck and the dealer has changed out the control module for the a/c and all the injectors has been changed. So far I love the truck. I do wonder what type of fuel miliage should I get? The dealer said I should get around 20 mpg. I have only gotten 16.5 at best and 15 when towing. Should I get more gas miliage?

Thanks in advance for any help.

15 towing is just freaking great!!!!!!!! 16.5 for a 1-ton is also great. Don't sweat it, just drive it and smile.

The 03 and the 04 does not seem to get as good of mileage empty. We are getting about the same as you. Our 2001 3500 4x4 would get 19 empty.

I don't know how everybody is getting 20+ mpg on these things. I get 17 to 18 loaded to gvw and if I drive it a little harder it drops closer to 16 mpg.

the dealer will tell you anything to make the sale. drive at 1800-2000 rpm for 100 miles on flat ground with cruise set and no wind. Then check your mileage, especially by hand. you may see more than 20.

Actually I asked about the mileage after I bought the truck. I was just wondering if maybe the injectors went bad again since they had already replaced them all. Since I never had a diesel before, I don't know when its running correctly or not. I do think everyone for their responses.

My mileage has dropped from 16.8 in the city to just over 13. Don't know if the summer temps here in vegas have anything to do with it, I run my AC about 65% of the time as when I get off work its pretty comfortable out.

Just got back from my first highway trip. 4 people, plenty of baggage, and souviners got 19.08 going 75 thru the desert. Not to bad in my book.

Drive 55 and you may get 20. There is a direct correlation with pushing down on the throttle and mileage going down. Then again, its fun to push on the fuel pedal.

Has there really been that many 03' s having bad injectors? I thought they had for the most part corrected this by 03' maybe its wishful thinking (since I have an 03')... What are the signs of bad injectors?

HMM, 55 for 20 or 20 mph better @ 75 for 19 with the occasional blast and traffic.
