I inherited my Dad's Chevy diesel when he passed away. The title says it's a 1988. But the info sticker in the drivers door has been pulled off. The VIN number starts off 2GCEC.
The engine has a serpentine belt, but I'm not sure if it's a 6.2 or 6.5. How would I find out what the engine size is? The reason I ask what year, is because I had to replace the alternator, and once I got home the alternator was completely different and wouldn't fit. Neither would the electrical connector. I took off the old alternator and took the new and old one back. The guy there matched the old one with one he had, and told me the one that would fit was an earlier alternator.
