Base level with tow package and cloth upholstery and 3:73(?) axle ratio..
Anyway, I got a quote of $28,671.00... Sticker price was $36,031.00...

What say you all?

My best other deal at this time is 2002 F250XLT crew with the V10 and 33k miles for $24,900.00...

I also saw a 2002 F250xlt crewcab with the PSD and 55k miles for $25k....

I began looking at used, but than started to see a bunch of facory incentives for new vehicle purchases...

Not really, it will be a year old in a month when 05's are out and a liabilty to the dealer. Also, they are basically giving it to you for invoice and they are still making over a grand on it from holdbacks and not counting any other incentives they be getting to. About 28,000 would be a starting point and then add (subtract from price) what ever incentives they may have to it. ALso, I would not call 3.73's heavy towing gears for a 8.1. It has less torque than a Dmax and can reve up a good bit higher too so it plays better with a 4.10 and so equipped will about match a stock Dmax in towing capacity.

NO, cause the 8100 lost 10 horses in 2004. MAybe that price for an LS trim level not base trim. 3.73s are all right, just keep stock tire size. NO nono on the ford's We can't be having that nowhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Update to the above:

I mis-represented the deal.
Its the LS trim and it has the 4:11 axle ratio.

So, what do you all think I should counter offer them with?

27,000.00 with 5 year 75000 mile warrenty and 3 free oil changes. And drive away happy. 4.10 will give her some get up. One thing to consider is a reprogram pcm, It will really awaken 8100. But may have warrenty claim issues with changing pcm settings. So up to you!! Good luck either way.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif Edited by: 8100hammer

The price suggested above would be good if they threw in a extendend warranty for 75 K or more. Make sure it is zero deductable though. If you reprogram ECM, you can always deprogram it before you take it is for servicing. Also, do not let then fool you, the 8.1 with 4.10's will tow anything a Dmax will and in some senerios even better except it will use more fuel in process. It has less torque than a Dmax but is has a much wider usable RPM range than a diesel too which helps make up for it. In drive with 4.10's it will make it to about 100mph or more before redlining and you will still have OD left. Try that with a Dmax! The 8.1 is a sleeping giant and capable of a lot more if need be.

First things first, Get rid of the stock intake tube. loud intake noise yes, unstuffing the motor so it can breath yes. This motor likes breathing mods. So go get it and tear up some pavement!!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Any ideas besides K & N? I've been looking for a good aftermarket for that same reason. Also, whadda all think about an LS6 MAF? Is the stocker MAF good in the 6.0L and 8.1L

Try making your own for a lot less money. I will give a web site when I get home. The MAF's are not the problem. But could try it, some people have had good luck, and some people don't.

Great. I'll take a look at the website when you post it. I've done that with an Impala SS with a sewer pipe intake (PVC), there is a lot more real estate between the throttle body and the fans. The truck line though has far less. Also even though I've had fair sucess with the K & N filters, I was reading in the diesel area that the K & Ns might have caused problems with the injectors since they let more air in, but also more dirt. What filter would you all suggest that has a good balance between filtration and flow?

Also, from the Impala SS forums, a lot of guys have found that moving the MAF in front of the throttle body got greater response. Anyone else try this on 6.0L or up?

I also am considering bypassing the throttle body coolant connection like I did on my LT1. Anyone done this yet to the trucks?Edited by: Silvertwinkie

I will have to try that one. ("Also, from the Impala SS forums, a lot of guys have found that moving the MAF in front of the throttle body got greater response. Anyone else try this on 6.0L or up? ")

"I also am considering bypassing the throttle body coolant connection like I did on my LT1. Anyone done this yet to the trucks?" On the ls1 base truck that is a common mod but not for cold climates.

You could install a valve system to enable and disable the coolant flow for varing seasons.

On my LT1, I've had it now for 2 years and we've hit below zero here a few times. I think the reason they put the warm coolant through the TB is so frost doesn't build up. Not really an issue I believe until you live in northern Canada, Alaska or Sibera. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Even in the northern midwest, I think one would be hard pressed to run into problems with an unheated TB. :)

Here is the web site http://shop.airflowonline.com get everything you need here for a custom intake tube. Plus I don't think coolant goes through the tb on 8100, could be wrong. It doesn't on mine.

Thanks for the link. Be glad the 8.1L doesn't have it...the 6.0L does. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif But it's easily taken care of! :)

8100hammer, you wouldn't happen to have any pictures of your intake that you could post to give us an idea of what were looking at would you? Looks like there is a lot of interest in it, if you have pics, I'll start a new thread so we don't hijack this one.
