Experts-

Back in the spring, one of the members,Strait Diesel, asked about converting his 2500HD to a dually with very little response.

I'm also interested. can you point us to the right way to make the conversion? I've seen adds in "Trailer Life" mag. Is a new axle needed? TIA.

best way to convert is to go to dealer and trade in the 2500hd for a new truck

We converted my Dads truck to a dually 3 years ago using adapters from JCwhitney http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/ProductDisplay/s-10101/storeId-10101/p-5779/c-10614/catalogId-10614. He pulls a 36 ft fifth wheel. He has seen no problems at all. We also added fender flares. My brother changed is truck to a flat bed and added the same adapters this year.

I looked into converting my 2001 2500HD to a dually. You need to buy the adapters for the front end and the wheels. There is also a kit out there that uses stock wheels and a adapter to space the rear tires. The big issue is the rear fenders. None were in production in 2002 when I looked in to this. They suggested I purchase a dually bed http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif . I think the manufacture was Ricka? sp? Go to www.dogpile.com (http://www.dogpile.com) and do a search on "Dually conversion"

Actaully the Dually Beds (longbed anyhow) aren't too hard to come by, as a lot of them were removed for flatbeds.

None the less I agree that the best way to make a 2500HD into a dually is to trade for a 3500 at the dealership.
