: how to make my lbz really fast??
tmm403 01-09-2007, 03:52 PM hey guys i have a 2006 chevy lbz and i have a few things on it like a 5" exhaust, Afe stage 2 intake, predator programmer. my girlfriends brother has a 2002 ford mustang and he brags that his car is soooo fast... all he has done is a exhaust, intake, race chip, and something done to the trans like a shift kit (thats what he says)..don;t get me wrong it sounds nice. he did tell me he raced a turbo scion and he beat him by maybe a car or car and half. but he kept up with him in the beginning. my question is what do i have to do to beat him or be really fast without breaking my wallet. i know a upgrade in trans is next but what else.. thanks guys
McRat 01-09-2007, 03:55 PM How fast do you want to go?
;)
Duramaxed06 01-09-2007, 04:04 PM I think you should be pretty close with a 100hp tune and a transgo Jr. as long as you dont spin the tires, use 4x4 and you'll get a good start, tie rod sleeves would be a good idea too.
Does he have a stick or auto trans?
tmm403 01-09-2007, 04:25 PM I would like to be in the 12's. its a good feeling when ur one of the fastest trucks on the road..
Duramaxed06 01-09-2007, 04:29 PM If you were in the 12's I think its safe to say you'd smoke him.
You'll need more than a Transgo Jr. for 12's though.
tmm403 01-09-2007, 04:46 PM ok, like what?? what do i need?

You could probably get away with just a new torque converter and Transgo Jr. But if money isn't an issue, look into a Suncoast III or IV.
EFI live is a good place to find more power, if you don't want to make your own tunes, I've heard the new PPE is putting down some impressive hp numbers. I see you have the predator, get some tranny upgrades and set your predator at 120 setting and I'd say you'd win. Good luck!

If you can run a twelve, you're one of the fastest things wearing a license plate on a typical day.
There is nothing "special" about our LBZ. It's a CC/SB loaded truck with tierod sleeves, Cognito braces, 275-17 tires, lift pump, EGR blocker plate, Mike L Suncoast trans, 4" exhaust, and EFILive McRat tuning (PPE Tuning will get similiar results). Nor was the track it ran it a "fast" track.
There will be alot of 12 second LBZ's by the summer.
tmm403 01-09-2007, 05:26 PM LIFT PUMP?? WHERE DO U GET THOSE?? also i want to get new tires soon..upgrade to 285...now what would i need for nitrous?? b/c i was looking into that and also maybe water/meth injection..??

Lots of vendors for lift pumps, Kennedy Diesel and TTS are good systems.
Tires will not make you go alot faster, but can certainly make you go slower if you put really big ones on.
Nitrous + 500rwhp tuning = risk. Ditto for meth. If you are good with the risk, by all means. You should not need either to run a 12.
tmm403 01-11-2007, 09:20 AM you think with the things i have now and the predator at 85hp u think i can take him and his mustang?
tlee05 01-11-2007, 10:19 AM Depends if you launch in 4wd and if he spins. But i think he will still get you. Get a built trans and converter, lift pump, a hot tune, tie rod sleeves and say good-bye to most mustangs!
tmm403 01-11-2007, 11:04 AM would he blow me away or will it be close????
Duramaxed06 01-11-2007, 02:09 PM Nobody can say for sure because we don't have enough info on the stang.
Im sure there's some goodies on it that you don't know about.
Just line up with him set your predator at 85hp and lets find out how close it will be, if you loose, time for some tranny upgrades. If you win... good job! you've met your goal. Have fun!
P.s. be sure to drive around a bit on the 85 setting so your tranny can learn the extra power. Don't just bump it up to 85 and race. Your tranny won't like that.
importkilladuramax 01-11-2007, 02:30 PM Is 85 the highest that will go, if you want to win jack that thing all the way up worst you can do is limp the trans into 5th by then you should be the clear winner. If 85 is the highest setting this is what you do, find the nearest trash can and throw that thing away and buy something worth a dam*
ratlover 01-11-2007, 03:13 PM If you get some tie rod sleeves(superdisel and ATS sells them) so you can launch in 4x4 and race him a shorter distance and he is a marginal driver you should be able to take him. He would probably get you on the top end though in a longer race. Keep it 1/8 mile or so and you have a deccent chance.
Look in fuel and exhaust section for info on lift pumps. Check out the aftermarket allison forum for info on trans mods. And look in the electronic section for help there. If you want to go fast the predator has never been a top performer. Many like it for an everyday program but no one runs one as a competitive "race" tune.
were do ya live? Filling out your profile may help. :)
woodchuck2 01-14-2007, 03:53 PM I have done no mods to my truck yet but i can tell you this, Horsepower = $$$$$$$$. Whatever you want or need is out there and these guys will show you the way. I have always liked the Stangs but your truck with some minor mods should spank the hell out of it. I have played with mine at the light's and have surprised alot of these little "tuner crap boxes".
Boostmonkey 01-14-2007, 10:20 PM Hi-Jack" hey TMM403 where is Jersey are you from" End hi-jack
Grit dog 01-15-2007, 09:29 AM FWIW, my 02, w/ the Edge on lvl 5 (125hp I beleive) would run neck and neck w/ an 04 'Stang from a roll on up to about 80mph. He had a 5sp maunual and a bunch of other crap. X pipe, not cat, intake, chip, etc.
At 80 mph, I backed out of it just as it went into 5th gear., as I didn't want to limp putting all the power to 5th gear.
He was pretyy proud saying he beat me. I think a 7000# 5 y/o truck w/ only $700 in mods did pretty well for itself.
tmm403 01-15-2007, 05:27 PM i live in ocean county!!!!!
Codeman911 01-17-2007, 04:07 PM I have a Bully Dog programmer with the 180hp Crazy Larry programmer. I have not been lucky enough to get to race anybody yet, but with a good launch, I think I could take your typical Mustang GT. I looked into Nitrous too and found out that if you're a rookie, STAY AWAY!!!!! Yes it's instant power, but it can cost you a $20G engine as well. Meth Inj wouldn't be too bad, but not going to get Mustang stomping power out of it. Like some in this forum say, "If you wanna' play, you gotta' pay!"
biglor96 01-17-2007, 11:11 PM I got a buddy with an 05 mustang gt, we have never raced but after he rode in my ride, he hates to admit it but, he thinks i could take him... We just put exhaust and a cold air intake on his mustange and he's getting ready to do a programer, so he's gettin a bit worried i think...
