: Two (2) PPE Boost Valves?
Dank514 01-08-2007, 09:13 PM I installed a PPE Boost Valve on my LB7 and I'm happy with the results. I went from about 13 - 15 PSI @ WOT to about 19 - 20 PSI @ WOT. From my understanding the LB7 can safly boost about 30 PSI.
My question is - how about running two of these valves? For the money, you can't beat it. Any thoughts? If one is good; will two be great?
03' LB7 w/ Banks six pack
120,000 miles.
Stock turbo.
intake, exhust - the basics.
NODMAX 01-08-2007, 09:24 PM You need more fuel, not another boost valve.
KEVINL 01-08-2007, 09:32 PM what are you measuring boost with that sounds too low
got-h2o 01-08-2007, 09:33 PM x2. The boost valve just regulates how much pressure runs through the vaccum hose feeding the wastegate actuator. The more it restricts, the more boost. You could pinch off/plug the line and without other mods, you'll never reach 30lbs. And as far as max boost, I've heard anywhere between 34-39lbs is starting to push it. Consider a Banks big head. I just installed one and I'm quite pleased.

Banks gauges that came w/ the six pack. It's seems too low to me aswell. It was installed by a "pro"? Truck runs strong but EGT can reach 1300 (easily) hitting an on-ramp, so i think my gauges are correct. From my understanding; low boost = high EGT.
AlligatorPerformance 01-08-2007, 09:55 PM Those boost levels are low to me, mine hit 23-24 stock. With the Edge juice and a KD boost valve, I could hit 31 on level 6. EGT's sound right though. Where did they install the boost fitting, the waste gate line or the intake manifold?
The Neens 01-08-2007, 09:57 PM I believe your truck should have 20 PSI stock...Might want to follow the boost line from the gauge to the source and make sure it's not kinked or has a hole in it...While you're under the hood, you can check the intercooler, turbo and intake connections...

I too have a Bank's Big Head. I did not install myself so the preload my be off. To add preload, do i turn in or out? How may turns?
What additional mods would you recommend? I would like to maintain reliability.

not sure, i'll check. Which would be more accurate?

To get stock boost, you turn it in 6 or 7 turns...Shorten the rod 3 or 4 turns and check boost again...

32 psi is the safe limit. Trust me, 39 and you will be changing a turbo. And that sucks.
pmeg1 01-09-2007, 11:53 PM I have only seen 23-24 after my install, but have only run my ppe on 120 over. In another post someone had written that it takes a pretty agressive tune (more fuel) to get more than that

The shorter the rod-the more boost. As far as mods, start with the basics. Cold air intake, exhaust, and then a programmer. Reliability is not much of an issue as long as you don't go overboard-depending on your current amount of miles, of course.
ratlover 01-11-2007, 10:48 AM Your big head is missadjusted. If you had a shop install it for you take it back to them. Ask them to let you watch so you can learn though :) You can also set your boost were ever you want it with the big head so you can ditch the PPE if you want. After you have a few more posts you can sell it here at our market place :D
There is a good post that is a sticky. Take a look at it and it may help you out a bit. If you have any questions after that post away :)
