I have been having flywheel noise and problems since I bought the truck. But just last week I noticed a very different and strange noise from the clutch area. When the truck is idling in nuetral with the clutch out it sounds like an old 6.2 diesel in the cab mabey worse almost like a engine nock and irregular firing. But when I press the clutch in it is back to normal quiet Duramax sound. I think this could be the end of the flywheel life like it will split into pieces and not work anymore. Any body else ever hear this?

Mine is doing it now. It seems to me that the springs get weak and allow the flywheel to bang around. When you turn your truck off depress the clutch.. you will be amazed how much quieter it is. I don't know how long they will run like this, but I will have mine out tommorrow and I'll report and try to get some pics.

I also disengage the clutch when I shut down. Makes for a quiet shutdown!

Letting the clutch out in 1st, applying the brake, and giving it some gas (brake torque the clutch) is usually a good way to determine if your flywheel is developing a split personality...

Yes noise -- typically a fairly loud and terrible sounding rattle. Easy to do in front of your dealer's service department in the event that they have trouble diagnosing it.

anybody have a squeaking sound while pushing on the pedal. But not the pedal itself squeaking, it comes from under the truck inside the bell housing.

A squeaking from inside the bell housing is usually associated with a bad clutch slave cylinder.
