Opie and Antony are coming to XM on Oct 4. So I have to get Xm. Do I have to get service and equipment for every vehicle and my house and my shop?
What do I need?

Pull the stocker and go with ALPINE! Took me about 1 hour to install the XM module (separate) into the freshly installed Alpine head unit.
Otherwise you will need the modulator. Go look on ebay for it.
E-Bay Search SkyFi modulator (http://search.ebay.com/SkyFi_W0QQsofocusZbsQQsbrftogZ1QQfromZR10QQsotrZ2Q QcoactionZcompareQQcopagenumZ1QQcoentrypageZsearch )
Alpine XM (http://search.ebay.com/Alpine-XM_W0QQsofocusZbsQQsbrftogZ1QQfromZR10QQgcsZ1547QQ pfidZ1907QQreqtypeZ1QQalistZa31298Q2Ca14Q2Ca10244Q 2Ca3801QQpf_queryZSkyFiQQsotrZ2QQcoactionZcompareQ QcopagenumZ1QQcoentrypageZsearch)
Remember that you will need an antenna as well.
Good luck, and happy listening. O&A rule...BRING BACK WOW (WBAB Long Island) Also XM 42 is the Boneyard...Hairbands and Stadium Rock. Edited by: GMC-2002-Dmax

You don't need a modulator. You can go with a PIE or Soundgate option that will allow a pioneer tuner to work through the OEM headunit. Your other options would be to go with a portable unit like a roadie and use a modulator or FM transmitter. This will save you paying numerous fees but doesn't look and work as nice IMO. Check out www.xmfan.com (http://www.xmfan.com)
I have the soundgate/pioneer option. It works good but is not perfect. Apparantly GM is also offering an aftermarket installation. Hopefully it will work better but it will definately be more $$$$. There were posts about this a few days ago.

Then you have to go with the roadie type thing or pay 3 subscription fees.

Did not even know about this Pioneer stuff...
But IMHO, I think playing it through the stereo direct is the best option acoustically. But the other options are viable.

I have the roadie with fm modulator and it sounds fine. My wife has xm from the factory and tough to tell the difference. I do think hers doesn't lose channels in the mountains as easily as mine, but I can't complain about the sound.
MaxPower is right, it's not as clean as the pioneer option, but sure is easy to move to my car.

Pics of the Pioneer/Soungate type XM install at the link in my sig.
Did you try one of your local dealers. They are always upgrading sound systems and most have the factory xm that have been taken out of new units. Lot cheaper most times.
