will it help any to gut the cat in the factory exhaust or do i need to replace the exhaust system? I have the egr blocker and finger stick kit on the way. I was just looking for some cheap proformance.

Not trying to be the EPA police, but most states which have inspections are going to start emission testing on diesels in 2007.

in my state if its over 6000gvw then its a safety inspection only.

It would be alot easier and cheaper in the long run to just get a "test pipe" to replace the cat. This way "if" for some reason you got caught with missing/malfunctioning cat you can always put the old one back and all is better.

I suspect all of the vendors on here have a "test pipe" that would fit your truck:D

can anyone recommend a brand of testpipe and does it give any proformace increase while still using the factory exhaust.

ray 07 classic,

Don't gut it till you price a new one at the dealer, very very expensive plus the large cavern that is created is not a great flow benefit like a 4 inch pipe is either. We stock the MBRP front pipes that bolt in if you need one.

would you by chance have a part number and a price, my truck is a crewcab lbz engine 07 classic. can i expect any performance gains by doing this? Thanks, ray

what does the finger stick and egr blocker do? I am reading a lot of threads saying they have this due to exhaust upgrades.

I beleive they are only going to test trucks 2007 or newer with the particulate filter. Can't grandfather a truck that was not meant to pass a smog test to begin with.

We've been tested here for years. If it came with a cat, then they will check for it. My 04 LLY came with one, but doesn't show that it's needed in the book because of the 04 lb7's not having them. Mine always passed with flying colors.

These trucks will pass fine without a cat, just have to find a way to pass the visual test.

Hey Mark, any thing in the works like a fake kitty with a 4" bypass in it?

Trucks are not tested at this time in Texas...diesels that is. They are going to be tested in the near future...not just the new 2007 reg trucks but all of them. Of course there will be different baselines for the differently configured trucks. Texas does not even look for a converter on a diesel at this time, even though they have been standard on a lot of the diesels for years now. They are going to start checking for them and all of the other emission crap. If you do not have...you do not pass go.
