ebay is 50 bucks per battery cheaper with free shipping.....if you buy from autozone make sure the build date on the battery is recent.....i bought mine there and then had to take them back due to them being over 14 months old when purchased

i would go red or blue. deep cycle (yellow) weren't designed for starting. the blue is a deep cycle/starting iirc. i have had good luck with the red in my samurai and my old big block bronco, same batt for 4 yrs.

Call these guys at batteryweb.com in FL. (954-746-8868) I know its not anywhere near you, but they may be able to help you with an educated decision. I have purchased yellow tops from them for my racecar ( 522ci 14-1 compression and 845 hp) and never had any problems starting or with low power.

Of course you were asking about your truck so call an expert. They cost way too much to not be right. Get prices from batteryweb while your at it they were $60 cheaper than anywhere else around here.

Good luck

Actually, the red is the regular "starter/primary" batter, the yellow is a sort of hybrid starter/deep cycle cross-bread, and the blue top is the full on deep cycle. Lots of the off road crowd use yellow tops for more durability (with repeated heavy drain from accessories and winch w/o engine running like when upside-down) though they don't have quite the punch for the starter.

Got tunes? If you put in some amps the Yellow tops will be handy.

If you went with 1 red and 1 yellow, where would each one go? Just wondering? Since I live in Montana I would need the red for starts and I do have 2 amps in my outfit.

Red/Yellow; different charge/discharge rates; different open circuit voltage; different voltage required for full charge. Maybe if they were isolated (diode) they would survive. They would never provide the service of either, in a single battery installation. 02.
