Good customer of mine, broke down in Pitts. 505,000 miles and the engine finally let go. Its a crew cab dually that needs to come here. Customer is a member here, Captain Beefheart. He is sitting in a hotel room right now until we figure a way to get this thing here. Can anybody help us out? Its about 400 miles from him to me

That was who I thought of as soon as I saw 505k cc dually. I guess he got his use out of that one... Seems like only a short time ago he was posting about being at 3 or 4 hundred.
Hopefully one of the hauler guys will be heading by that way.

Something tells me you wouldn't be posting this if I still lived in Michigan. Wish I could help. If you ever need a truck hauled from this side of the Mississippi, you know who to call...

Something tells me the U-haul car-hauler route won't work with a big dooley.):h
If you/him can line up a trailer and don't have anything worked out yet, I may be able to help. I have a good brake controller setup in the truck already, and I'm ~2 hours from you Eric. But we're talking about 900+ miles roundtrip here, i'm sure he knows it won't be super cheap to trailer it that far. 586.491.1057

Dually isn't a big deal. It is OK (and legal) to have the outside wheels hanging.

On a dually you can remove the outer wheels and get it up onto most trailers.

Tried this once. U-haul's book says you can haul a D-300 on it. Loaded my '68 D-300 w/9'dump on it and left the house. Changed my mind within a mile on the intelligence of doing this and had to drive 3 more miles before I had a place I could turn around. After running the D-300 across the scales I found out I was twice the rated weight of the trailer.
