And I think that sucks so I will not be buying a LEER topper. I tried to call them and ask them if xcab topper is the same as the crew cab and they refused to answer the question. Would only refer me to a dealer. Well my dealer says the crew and xcab are the same, they will sell you any topper they have if it is right or not. I even told the leer people this and they still wanted me to call them and ask them. My neighbor has a leer and it does not match the lines of the truck at all it hangs over in the back and the front and when you push it to the front to line up the door wont close. Well theres my rant! Hope you enjoy it.

I can tell you that the profile of the back of a crew and extended cab ARE NOT the same. Dealer sold me one for extended cab and the gap widens up at the top. They had to order a new one for a crew cab.

I think you just got a bad cap. I've taken mine off my crew cab and let a neighbor use it on his extended cab. It looked great except he has a different color truck...

Don't buy the LEER. I have one and won't buy another. Previously had an ARE on my step-side Z-71 and it was about the best. This time I passed them up because the ARE was a couple hundred bucks more.

Maybe next time I'll buy a one ton Ford passenger van with the 6.0l diesel and not have to decide what topper to buy.

Yeah, and while your at it, you might want to find a book similar to the Woodahls that lists all the campgrounds in North America, but only listing all of the Ford diesel repair facilities. That is if they haven't gotten all of the bugs worked out of that engine by the time you get that van.

That's interesting - it matter what kind of cab you have? No I defintely am not looking into cap but I thought that all Silverado/Sierra cab configuation would have the same cab height and shape, so I thought only thing that matter is the bed size (short or long) for the cap to fit.

I was told by several sources (including manufacturers) that the Crew Cab takes a different cap than extended/standard cab trucks. The crew cab is taller and the window angle is different. I've also seen a crew cab with a standard cab cap on it and there was a clear drop from cab to topper. I was also told that many dealers try to sell "standard" tops to crew cab owners saying there is no difference or "little" difference. Looked to me like quite a bit of difference, visibly different standing off to the side.

The extended cab is more upright at the top in the back while the CC angles toward the front of the truck. There is an 1" or 1.5" difference at the very top of the cab. If you look at them side-by-side you will clearly see the difference.
