Question for you guys. Did your trannys run any warmer with the stage III installed? I drove mine home today from being installed and the temp was up to about 175 on a cool 65-70 degrees day. I have amsoil torque drive in there for fluid.

I suspect that the triple disk conv may add a bit o heat, perhaps the added clutches contribute some as well. I have found some trannies will get warmer just with changing to Transynd... Dunno why, but as long as they stay in safe temp, I aint worried

I have recieved a few PM's about the post I made.

Nothing is running any hotter for me with the SC-III installed.

To clarify the temps I am seeing, under normal driving at 80-90 degree day, hot and humid out I see 170 degrees tranny temps in NORMAL.

......in T/H mode closer to 150 degrees keeping the TC locked up.

This was always the normal temps I was seeing even with a stock transmission.

As long as I am under 200 degrees I do not worry. Although cooler is probably better.

In the winter time I am lucky to see the gauge even move.

So I would think that 175 degrees would NOT be all that abnormal of a temp, epecially if you live in the SOUTH.....

Even flogging the tranny and truck including running it real hard testing the 0-60 and screwing around I rarely see 200 degrees.

I am also running a deep PML Pan and Mobil Fluid......and I even have a LUND summer front on my truck that blocks a lot of air.

Hope that helps clarify my post.

Deep PML pan ? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif Secrets to many secrets!

The temps your are seeing are well with in "stock" Allison ratings and well with in transmission fluid and Transmission life.

When ambient temps rise you will see your gauge temps rise accordingly. My Suncoast has stayed under 200 degrees.

Stop worrying and enjoy!

I run the PML pan, so does Diesel Tech, our leader Nick runs one also. I highly recommend them because of their quality machine work, and their use of the factory pan gasket. They don't leak.

I'm not worried about the heat, just noticed the guage to be a bit higher than normal. On the way home tonight it only ran just shy of 150 so no biggie. Best investment I ever made.

1100 miles with the spin changed mid way and it shifts fine. No ther problems other than it seems to get to 190+ and not cool down even if the truck is in lock up and I'm driving nice, once it hits 190 there is nothing I can do to bring the temps down. Before I could change my driving style and get em down. If I take a highway trip the temps don’t drop like they did before. Running strictly highway I am in the 180* range at 65 MPH with water temp of 192*(via attitude and trany temp via snapon scanner) H2o temp may be running 2 or so degrees higher than normal but am not 100% certain of this. If its 70 or so outside(like at night) if I run down the highway it will go up to 150-160 and stay there(this is higher than before also) Outside temp is between 75-85 degrees. I cleaned the round electrical plug with contact cleaner thinking along the easy cheap fix of maybe some goo getting in there during the R&R of the trany. No change. I did a quick check of the cooler lines(will investigate again this weekend) and didn’t find any touching exhaust or kinks in the rubber lines that connect the hard lines. Level is correct and the mobil 1 is still the same color as when it was added.

I need to get ahold of a laser temp gun and zap the pan and the like. Then hopefully compare to numbers you have and such so I can get an actual idea on the temps. But with my hand I can place my hand on the inlet to the aux cooler(on the line or the nut of the cooler itself) and its not that hot, the cooler itself is only warm, I could stick my tongue on the freaking outlet line. This is with the temps reading in the 190-200 range(verified by scanner) The pan and case I would believe are 200 degrees. They are freaking hot. The outlet line at the trans is freaking hot as well, inlet is much cooler though. Again I need to get an actual temp on all these, hope to do it this weekend.

My thoughts are that some how I screwed up or pissed off or coincidentaly the temp sender or some line somewere got screwed up at the rebuild time. Or some how I am getting limited flow to the cooler some how? That’s all I can think of?

My concern is mostly based on the fact that before I could hit the highway and watch my trans temp drop once I hit lock up. That’s why I’m thinking something aint right somewere. The fact I can hit 190-200 is normal IMO but I should be able to get it to budge off that.

My dads infared temp guy went MIA and the only place that I can think of selling em closes at noon on sat(was too late<IMG onMouseOver="this.style.cursor='hand'" onMouseOut="this.style.cursor=''" alt='Click on image to open in new window' onClick="window.open('smileys/Angry.gif', 'Image', 'toolbar=0,location=0,status=0,menubar=0,scrollbar s=1,resizable=1');" id='chkImg1' name='chkImg2' SRC="smileys/Angry.gif" bord
