On an '05 LLY... What is the recipe for never limping a tranny again? What can be done to fix the lifeless 1st gear? Unfortunatley tuning can't fix that....

The right tune via EFI Live will fix that lowpower

As for the transmission, lots of good reading here. An upgraded converter, clutches and shift kit properly installed will meet your expectations

Recipe meaning tuning? That's easy, you just go to B0720 and B0721 and reduce the fueling by 15-20%.

I believe that will take care of most the slip.

But if you want to go the other direction, what Eric said.

NO trans is indestrcutable ;) Even a full tilt trans from ATS or suncoast can still get broke if you run it hard enough and you can cook the clutches if you beat on it hard/long enough. I had good luck with my suncoast stage 5 and they are in FL. Or the ATS extreme trans is thier top of the line trans.

What exactly do you want to do with your truck and what are your uses?
