Hello, my first time on. I have a 2006 duramax LBZ....Bone stock
I have heard that a Diablo Preditor is a good place to start. then a stage 2 air intake. I was going to do a cat back but then I was told it was a waste of my money. Is this a good place to start ????

I wouln't waste the money on a stage 2 air intake either.
What are your goals? High hp? Modest hp? fuel mileage?

I pull a 28 foot 5th wheel and I'm looking for better mileage....I'm getting 13 in city and maybe 15 on the highway:eek:

hey buddy, you sound just like me about 2 months ago and look at me now as soon as I join this site it cost me quite a bit of money. I went with the predator tuner, a stage 2 intake(I'm not sure I would do this next time) and a 4" turbo back exhaust. MBRP exhaust cat back system with the cat down pipe piece. If you live in a state where you can take the cat out. DO IT. the exhaust IMO was the best thing. Now that it's broke in the exaust is barely louder than stock but when you're into it it sounds awesome. Plus, that turbo whistle is the best. So I would say tuner and exhaust, if you ask me.:ro)

i got the afe stage II and love it a lot more turbo whistle. also the 5 inch mbrp brand exhaust with the BIG O 6 inch tip looks cool. i'd say thats agood place to start. i'd wait a few miles before put a tuner/grammer on though.jusmy2cnts. have fun. be careful

More miles than my 15000 ??? Like I said, I was thinking that the afe stage II and I was going to go with a 5 inch cat back but a guy named John at Kennedy Diesel said I would be wasteing my money unless I removed the cat. But I also heard that if you remove the cat you get lots of check engine lights. Can you really feel the difference with just a afe stage II and the predator and how did it effect the mileage ???

Welcome to DP :) Its a great place to learn a lot. I also have an 06 LBZ. I did install the Blocking plate (to keep the exhaust out of the engine) and the FingerStick to take care of any codes. I purchased the Predator, 3 weeks ago, plugged in the 85HP tune, works great and is easy on the trans. In the Feb issue of DieselPower Mag you will find valuable info regarding Cat-Back vs Turbo- Back Exhaust. I will be doing the Cat-Back.

I did a cat back exhaust and love it. Read somewhere that it doesnt give any more power removing the cat just noise and codes..Transgo jr and the predator was the best thing i did, forget about the intake.. I did the drop in afe filter and 1 month later my mass air flow sensor burned out, dealer fixed it but blamed it on the oil from the filter

From what I have read (no real life exp,) theres money better spent then the intake, the ones on our trucks arent all that bad, chip and exhaust would be 1st
