It was a bear figuring the whole shameal out but I finally got the buggers working... See my signature for the full install article. The clear red lenses really make the effect because you can physically see the entire bulb through it. Helps alot with daytime lighting.

In this shot you see the Line of Fire, blue 194 LED's in the license plate markers and the new tail light LED's. Yes the blue is probably illegal but since it's in the back I think it's much less likely to be an issue.

Not a bad idea http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif

Got a "special" tag on the way. The Duramax tag is in the back seat for occasional fun.

Hoot, how is the side visibility? LED's are very directional and don't throw off much light to the sides. Not a big deal but something to consider.

From the rear I assume they are brighter then conventional bulbs? It is amazing at how much faster the LED's light up. If you want to see it, put one side back to conventional and have someone push the the brakes for you. You will see the LED's light up way faster then the incandescents.Edited by: Max Power

The lenses on the Dodge are clear red without much reflective prizm in the lense as a whole. They also wrap around the body more exposing the bulbs. Not saying the Dodge tail light assemblies are better in stock form, they just are more translucent as you can see in the pictures. Because of the above... yes you can see them light up from the side.. except not very well in the daylight. Side viewing with the GMC was non existant because I had those APC carbon fiber jobs that only pointed back. Even with stock bulbs there was no side lighting.

There are improved versions coming out with led's around radially but I'm taking my time as they also need to be the very bright versions that I have. www.superbrightleds.com has them. Prices are incredibly cheap. I bought the little super brite 194 leds and the load resistors. The 194's are almost too brite. Pretty amazing. Since I already had the 3157's I didn't want to spend on more but they only want like $6 a piece... another $24 + shipping experiment.

We have a lot of New Holland tractor dealers down here in AR. When I head up there, it's usually to the Tyson plant. I work in the IS Manufacturing area at the Tyson World Headquarters in Arkansas, but travel about 25 weeks out of the year.

I got a kick out of all the carriages up there. Oh -- and the town names. Whew... Blue Ball, Intercourse, Ecstacy, Virginville, Bird-In-Hand... I have some good digital pics of the town signs. heh

You forgot Paradise

Did you ever take the Strasburg railroad to Paradise? If not, do it. It's a real steam loco ride. Starts in Strasburg and last about an hour or so. Great train museum in Strasburg too.

It's not cut and dry which bulbs to buy. The ones in my truck are HR 3157 Jam Strait's for late model 99-up GM trucks. It's more complicated to design full function LED 3157 bulbs than simple incandescent bulbs because the filaments or "LED's" are one way circuits whereas incandescent bulbs, power can travle either direction for the filament to light. hat's why I had to rearrange the leads in the bulbs to make them work.

Line of Fire is a 60" long fully functional LED light strip that plugs directly into a flat four trailer harness.

what about on your dodge? i mean the pictures u posted??? when i got on the site it looked like the leds hooked right up to the incandesent bulb connector....im not a complete wiz at that stuff but i know some stuff about it and i think if i ordered them off the site you recommended that they would work....but if you say not to i won't...do me a favor and look at my other post...i wrote it the other night...ohhh and do you want to see some pics of my truck???

I'm talking about Jam Strait HR 3157 LED bulbs. They are wedge base bulbs just like the standard incandescent bulbs. They will plug in but not work. I had to take them apart and rewire them.

My 04 Dodge wiring is different than yours.Edited by: hoot

Hoot, You say "rewire". Did you simply reverse the polarity on the led's, or is there more to it than that?
