Coming back from Flagstaff the other day, and going thru Needles at 108 the AC output was greatly reduced. The fan only ran at one speed, or at least seemed so. Also cool air and not cold air was coming out of the vents.

Is it possible to freeze up the cooling fins in the AC????

Is it normal, if not what causes it.

I stopped for a little while and quite a bit of water was coming out of the condensation hose onto the ground. Things then got better. Stopped again for a couple hours and the system ran normally.

Thanks

Got a buddy who's had the same type of trouble for over a year now. The stealer in Mempho sold him a new inside hepa/ac filter and replaced the switch on the fire wall unit. He had the same problems a week later and was pi$$ed (pi@@ed) off, cause he's tighter than a tick.

He was out of town and took it to a dealer in Mt. Home Ark. That dealer found his compressor harness was being pulled/pushed by the DMAX plastic cover. All they did was press the harness back into place, problem solved!

I used to work on ac years ago and I doubt very seriously if you could freeze one up at 90 much less at 108. The conditions would have to be perfect, high humidity, low freon charge and very little air flow.

After looking at your sig line, you may have just hit the edge of the envelope, if, you were pulling the 5th wheel, at high altitudes, and were really straining the tranny. Those diesels make a lot of heat under the right conditions and the system may have been at it's limit.

Thanks for the comments.

We have made this same trip, same time of the year, the last two years. Last year the temp averaged 112, and did not have a problem.

I will look at the compressor harness tommorrow.

Thanks again
