: Passenger Side Head Gasket Question
HPI_transport 01-04-2007, 01:53 PM I found a couple posts and the tsb for this, but after my last oil change I noticed that there seemed to be a small amount of oil coming from the rear of the passenger side cylinger head gasket. I bought my truck this june, and unfortunately already have 95 000 miles on it, and only last week put on an evolution. It has had a 5 inch exhaust since july though. I havent noticed any power loss, just this bit of oil, so i would assume that it is just the edge of the head gasket leaking around an oil gallery OR the head needs to be re torqued??
Is this a problem that i should have gotten a recall for?
If not, Is it gonna be costly?
Thanks for any help guys.
bruins499 01-04-2007, 02:39 PM If you have a head gasket put on its probally going to cost you a good bit of $$$. cant think of any recalls on head gaskets least none that i have heard of.
saratoga 01-04-2007, 02:51 PM The engine has a 100k/ $100 deductible warranty. I'd pursue it from that angle first.
HPI_transport 01-04-2007, 03:27 PM Ya but im at 95 000 MILEs since june 06. outta luck. crap.
bruins499 01-04-2007, 03:30 PM 95K since june of 06? As long as your under 100K your okay.....
LeadfootDuramax 01-04-2007, 04:02 PM 95K since june of 06? As long as your under 100K your okay.....
X2
As long as you have less than 100k miles, you are fine. Take your EVO out and take it to the delaer. It's their problem.
haulin-rv 01-04-2007, 04:30 PM Your running as hard as me, mine has 190k and just turned a year. I also have seen the oil on the back of the engine on the pass side, never left a drop on the ground though. I just left mine alone since I saw it at around 110k. What and who do you haul for?
Puffer 01-04-2007, 05:21 PM There was TSB on passenger side head gasket posted here some time ago.
saratoga 01-04-2007, 10:40 PM There's more than a few people with this issue... search for "head gasket oil leak" and read away.
Here's one person that had the exact same thing happen to them

dieselmech1 01-04-2007, 10:51 PM a redesigned head gasket is out to fix the oil leak problem at the cylinder
heads it provides a better seal and different torque specs
thejdman04 01-05-2007, 06:36 PM You must haul something for a living w/that kind of milage, otherwise id say forget it until you got a problem IF your OUT of warrenty (ottherwise let gm deal w/it), but you dont want to get stranded. Haulin rv said hes been running like that for 80,000 miles though sure hate to see you stranded somewhere, but you can buy alot of oil (even synthetic) forthe price and hassle of a head gasket.
Dura2daMax 01-15-2007, 07:23 AM Censored
Well, ya'll can kiss my head gasket goodbye too. And get this: only 8000mi on the truck. I am freakin pissed. Luckily I watch my EGT gauge, went from 500-1200 in like 5 seconds. I only had enough oil to barely touch my dipstick, BARELY. This sux:( .
I have 2 issues though. I see alot of passenger side rear goin out. Mine was the drivers front. Is there more gaskets I should be worried about?
My
Dura2daMax 01-15-2007, 07:28 AM  That thing cut me off and posted before I was done.
Anyway, I didnt have any problems till I got the Evo. I think it was tearin up my tranny too.
Do I have to take all my crap off to bring it to the dealer? My main concern is the BD Manifold because it was leaking right above it. I could see them sayin somethin bout that.
Just wanted to see if ya'll could help. I have faith. RIGHT ON:ro)
HPI_transport 02-02-2007, 12:29 AM Thanks for the replies. The dealer looked at it and said the seepage was normal. (whatever that means) I wiped it away and it stayed away for another 20 000 Miles. Just a bit back now. I am at 186 000 kilometers now, in 8 months. I have my own hailing company, and I buy contracts from a company in Saskatoon. I live in Manitoba, Canada.
