Just wondering if anybody else has a light blue smoke coming from the exhaust after extended periods of idling? I usually have to get on the throttle to get the smoke started while it is still idling or driving. After approx. one minute the smoke disappears and I go back to black smoke when I rev it up. I have had the injectors checked once and they said one is out a bit but not enough to meet specs to be replaced. My truck is LLY. I had LB7 with a few injectors gone previously and similair in smoke nature but new truck doesn't run rough like the LB7 when injectors were gone. One service rep. said he had one previously that smoked from valve seals but it was fairly continuous in nature. Mine doesn't appear to be using any oil or anti-freeze. I took pictures to take to the shop this week so they don't have to REPRODUCE IT. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif

Mine doesn't smoke like that and mine does have a bad injector. I have noticed smoke but not nearly that much. When they checked my injectors the first time they left the truck in park so there was no load. It was showing #2 in the low fives which is within GM specs of +/-6 but I had them do the same check in gear with the brake applied (now under load) and it shot up to +15 and higher! Did you check it under a load? If not try it out.

Just sent pictures to shop and hope I get a good response. If its the injectors I'm going to be more than upset if it takes three weeks to get new ones but I guess I better expect it. Why is it that the injectors are restricted for warranty? If they don't meet specs then they are wrecked and need replacing. What's with the wait? All this does is p*ss off good customers. Do they think the problem will fix itself in three weeks or become less expensive. I'm sure bosch has lots of injectors for GM to buy. I heard that the new cummins has the same hold back on bad injectors. I guess we will all have to carry injectors in our trucks like spark plugs for a old skidoo. Sorry I had to throw in some Canadian humor for the situation. Still having a hard time getting the edge up here, would guys in the south stop hogging them.

I thought they just moved the injector production facility to Brazil? If so, probably start up issues at the new plant causing delays.

There is a reflash out to correct some injector type issues, Worth having it looked at to have done. It seems to be working is the general consensus

Mine is going in tomorrow so we will see what they say. Took the chips and stuff off and it still did it. I dont know how people drive these trucks stock (without chip) i couldnt hardly stand it and was praying that nobody wanted to race me . Seems that with the chip in IM looking for a race. What a gearhead !
Mine was doing the parking lot surge deal and the smoke thing after idleing for an extended period. I only saw the smoke stuff when it was cold and I'd left it in the driveway to warm up, for longer than I intended.
Got the reflash done yesterday, could swear the low end response is a little better but that's seat of the pants. The parking lot surge thing between 800 and 1000 RPM seems to be gone.
I hadn't noticed the other two problems it's supposed to correct.

Got truck back and they had done i believe a reflash and calabration for the injectors. Seems to have fixed it so far. Will try again tomorrow. They also ordered my AC accumulater and hose. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif Slowly but surely gonna get these little things worked out. Too bad the mileage is only showing about 14-14.6 but they did do alot of driving around town trying to get it to do things.

Mine has the same problem. Experimented with a different refiner. When I use Super America or Marathon the problem is alleviated. Conoco etc. and the truck could be used for a mosquito control vehicle.
