I'm on a 2000 mi road trip w/ a 7000 lb trailer. When I stop and let the truck idle for 5 min, it blows blue smoke (not black, not white) for a little 'til it blows out, then everything is fine. Mileage o.k., oil o.k., power o.k., acts like a broken ring or valve seal. Any Ideas?

I was going to say valve seals.

I know when the big rigs sit and idle all night the pistons and rings cool and contract, the oil thickens, and sneaks by the rings. Then in the morning when they take, off blue smoke and oil smell like no tomorrow. Is there any turbo noise, possibly worn bushings, hopefully this helps.

The old 'screamin' Jimmys' used to do that. Load up idleing and then blow blue when you first wound them up. This acts just the same. I've got over 1000 mi now on the problem with no oil use, no lights, no codes, power & mileage good. Any of you guys got any ideas? I've got 500 more miles to home but it runs so good I'm not going to worry about it unless it pukes the crank or some such. I don't really want to take it to the stealer to find out the problem 'cause I might just want to trade it in on a new one and unless they idle it a long time, they won't notice the problem. WTF?

Mine pukes blue smoke when it downshifts in T/H mode. Especially on the 3-2 shift going into high RPM's. I am almost positive its injectors but the stealer wont do them yet.

Not that there is anything wrong with amsoil. (i use it in my truck too) but on those long trips with the 10/30 it may be thinning and when you stop its getting into the combustion chamber and loading up. once you start pouring the fuel in and making the heat it burns it out. i use the lucas oil stabilizer too. (my dad swears by it) i might try a thicker oil, rotella makes a 5/40 syn and so does delvac. you sound like a car hauler or a camper puller. my dads truck had 850,000 (in my garage) on it with 15/40 and lucas. it wasnt time for an inframe but someone screwed up and put the wrong oil in at the speedco (not proven but thats when things went bad 500 miles from there:rant: ) id try changing the weight next oil change and adding some lucas to see. BIll

My problem goes away with new injectors, but comes back after 2000 miles. I would say the low sulfur fuel is a big problem.

Normal I think especially in cold weather......an addative may cure the problem

No addative in any amount or brand has fixed my problem yet.
