Getting ready to buy a enclosed trailer 8.5x24 and wondering if the V-nose makes a difference over the normal flat front of a trailer???As far as fuel economy or overall towablity??

I have a 8.5' wide V-nose with a 76" interior height and 18' long. The V doesn't seem to do anything for aerodynamics. I think the biggest things to look at as far as fuel economy is concerned is the overall height, and how much space there is from the bottom of the floor to the ground. I only average about 10.5 mpg towing this pig.

I have a v-nose thats 26' and i think it pulls better then a flat front, I get about 10-11mpg going between 70-80 and about 13-14mpg going about 55-60...If I were you I'd go with a V-nose...I love mine and would get another in a heart beat...if you would like to see some pictures just let me know and I can post some

I'm preparing to buy an enclosed trailer myself. Some salesmen have told me that it makes 2mpg difference. Others have been more truthful and said that it really makes NO difference unless you're constantly pulling it very long distances.

I'm looking at a HORTON HAULER 7X14 or 7X16. I'll be using it for lawn care/ landscaping. Probably gonna get the V-nose for that extra storage space up front. Two buds have Horton's with the V-nose and setup some shelves up there and it really increases your working space. Plus, it looks cool.

Take a look at Hortons, I;ve compared them to PACE, Haulmark and a couple other brands and IMO for the price you get a better trailer.

A few years ago I had a gas dually with an aluminum 28' V nose, about 6000lbs loaded and I switched to a 30' flat nosed pace (8800lbs loaded) and I really couldnt tell much of a difference. About 8mpg with either one.

I have a 26' regular tag I use with this truck and I'm right at 11mpg @ 7600lbs at 65-70mph so thats not too bad since there are a lot of hills around here..

Got rid of my V nose, the thing seem to like to push in the wind if you weren't head on, it was a long vee, just about 4'6 inside.... Was 26' OA, 20" box plus vee and coupler. If I didn't use the sway on the wife's Trail blazer EXT it was very bad.....white knuckles bad. The Dmax was better unless it was windy... My 2 cents is to go pull both, pick a windy day then make a informed choice based on your truck etc.

Mine's only 17' long but I get about the same. Being a sled trailer it's 10' tall. I get the same mileage no matter the weight. Funny how flatbed haulers get similar mileage pulling 10K plus.

I went with an Interstate steel frame. I couldn't justify the money on an aluminum frame for the miles it sees.

I don't see why anyone worries about the aerodynamics of their trailer....when your pulling it with the aerodynamic equivalent of a brick....you might notice a difference with a wing on the roof of your truck to get the air over the top of the trailer...but i can't imagine a v nose vs. A flat nose would make any difference except give you less cargo space...just my 02.
