Hello, diesel newb here.
I just bought an '83 shortbox K10 (wahoo!) which was originally diesel but has no engine. Picked up a fresh rebuilt 6.2 with a Banks turbo setup in a separate deal.

The truck is in great shape, except the previous owner had torn into the wiring without a clue. Most of the leads coming out of the firewall connector are chopped.

I've got a GM shop manual, which has wiring diagrams, but does not have the actual pinout of the firewall connector, which would be very useful. Anyone here have this data?

The truck is non-AC, and has guages (not idiot lights) for temp, voltage, and oil pressure.

Welcome to the forum! :welcome:

I wish I could help you with the wiring, but I don't have the information you need about the connector. Somebody here has that information, though, so I am sure you will find out pretty soon. If not, just wire it the way you want it... It doesn't make a difference as long as it works... :)

Sounds like you've got a pretty good project going... Turbocharged 6.2s are very cool, especially in a half ton. :cool2:

Welcome again! :welcome2:

Chilton and Haynes manuals have that drawing.

You can use wire colors and AWG for connection and terminations, as they are generally standard across the GM lines.

Be easiest to pull that connector\harness from a donor truck - not mine, please! - and go from there

Thanks for the replies. It turns out that the diagrams are in the shop manual, but they're in an unbound foldout section (which my friend didn't initially include with the loaned manual).

I'll make a layman's drawing tonight for this particular truck, perhaps the mods will add it to the tech sticky to help other folks. It should be similar to other pickups, blazers, and subs from the 80's.
