I had noticed on friday night the alternator was acting screwy and thought it was going bad. I had replaced the stock with a high output and it is common for them to act up some. The problem was at a light there was no charge but at an press of the pedal it started charging. Well the next day woke up and no prob. So thouhgt it was just a fluke.
Well now four days later the dang thing started doing the same thing again. So grabbed the stocker from the garage and swapped. But still didn't fix it actually got worse, no charge at all. So I started the test and found that, looking at the motor, on the drivers side in the back where the larger dia. wire goes and ties in was some sort of short because when it was hooked up it drew the batt's dead. Pulled the fuse relay center cover and unhooked the wire and no prob. The rear relay in that box is the prob.
If I replace the relay could this fix my prob or should I take and check, I believe it goes to the glow plugs, and see if one is shorted or does this seem far fetched? Trying to decide I belevie this is still covered under warranty the truck only has 35,000 on her and the motor has 100,000 on it right? Any help would be great!
