When the full capabilities of V2 are available, will it be able to do a standalone read of an ECM? What I'm getting at is would I be able to take just the V2 over to a buddys and read his ECM without dragging the laptop along, or bring a tune over on an SD card and reprogram without the laptop and the V2 would look after the license all on its own?

The short answer is YES!. Once the software is ready, you will be able to read and write to most if not all 1998-2007 GM cars and trucks without the need for piggy backing with a computer.

Excellent, I prefer to write tunes on the home PC then I wouldn't have to use a laptop at all. My wife uses it for work and when I want to log something on the truck the laptop seems to never be home. Thanks

The V2 should have this capability by the first quarter of 07'.

Correct, this is pretty much all Paul is working on right now, V2 firmware.
