Well GM called again and after saying a couple of weeks ago they wouldn't replace the truck (only refund money) and told me to go down to my local dealer and order a new one!!

Seems they found a spot in their busy factory to put an order in for little ol me. I will have an order number tomorrow and then the wait will start.

Get to drive the smoking 04 till the new one gets here so if it stays running I will be fine. Fair terms worked out with GM on the replacement, it will cost me $200 and change for the miles and I will pay the difference of MSRP between the two. I get a new 05 and they get a piece of s### that never ran right from the get go. If you ever feel you had a hard time dealing with your local dealer wait till ya have to deal with the factory!! The wheels there turn slowly!

Dennis,

Sounds like a pretty good deal. Everything cool now for you?

dwrat, It is a lly 04 gmc, crew cab, long box with all the goodies. Something makes the number 8 cyl injector dump fuel and causes enought smoke to close a socal freeway. They replaced two computers, injector, and checked every wire looking for the cause. No fit in sight! I have been driving it enought to make this happen at will but it has to be the first time it is run in the morning and it only happens on the freeway at speeds above 55 or if it has to work harder going up a hill. Get it warmed uo with a few in town trips and it will run fine for the day. Once it startes smoking and knocking you have to let it idle for a while and it seems to clear up. It has been like this since March!

baimpala, I do think my blood press in going down LOL. This replacement thing has been a pain in the butt for me and it will be nice to have it a done deal. After you have this many problems that don't have a fix I just wanted to pull my hair out and then you get to the point that you never want to drive the truck again!! Yesterday when I was reordering the truck I even went with a differen't color leather so I wouldn't be reminded of the old one. Today will be the first time I have taken the truck on a trip so with my fingers crossed I will see if it will make it from San Diego to Phoenix and back.

Hoot, I did give a lot though to changing to the Cummins. I have a 5.9 in my fishing boat and love it!!
