hello,
i have a 28 ft enclosed car trailer with a gvw of 10,000 lbs. the hooks on the safety chains are very large and just slip part of the way through the eyelets of the hitch. what do some of you guys do in a situation like this? replace the hitch? my neighbor put a drawtite on his half ton and it has nice big eyelets, but i didnt notice what class it was. any advice is greatly appreciated. wil

Maybe easier to adapt. Change the ends on the safety chains. I did on my travel trailer.

I have also seen ball couplers with large chain loops on them too. I also what to commend you for getting a car hauler with at least 5200lb axles as I have seen so many of them with only 3500lb ones which are a joke for that use. Edited by: snoman

As stated above I would either use smaller hooks on the chain or weld some larger loops on your hitch.
